My Alpha Made Me Bleed for My Sister Chapter 09

My Alpha Made Me Bleed for My Sister Chapter 09

Nothing new-new. Just the same old excuse, “afraid of losing her only source of favor.”

He used to think, think that since she’d had such a hard, lonely childhood, spoiling her a bit more couldn’t

hurt.

He never expected that indulgence would grow the monster inside her called “possession.”

The root of it all, really, started with his guilt toward his own little sister.

The sister who died getting hit by a car at an intersection, because he’d been off playing and no one was watching her – her. Lyra.

When his parents got the news and rushed to that intersection, they ran a red light and collided with a truck.

Crushed beyond recognition on the spot.

Overnight, his whole family was gone.

Before he could even process the grief, the pressure of survival hit him full force.

He’d been forced to fend for himself, picked through garbage, fought in underground rings.

Later, he’d clawed his way up, somehow becoming the Alpha of North Ridge Pack.

After he’d made something of himself, he went back to that intersection.

Meant He meant it as a way to pay his respects, but instead found a filthy girl digging through a trash can for leftover food.

For a second, he’d felt disoriented.

Because those round eyes looked exactly like his sister’s.

He’d taken her in.

All she remembered was that her last name was Voss.

He’d brought her back to the Pack, Pack and named her Serena.

And gave her love with absolutely no limits.

“She’s just a little willful. Her heart isn’t bad.”

He used to think that all the time.

Even if she messed up, it didn’t matter.

He’d cover for her, her no matter what.

And so she’d grown from a timid orphan girl into someone lawless.

But not until today did he realizerealize it.

Not every consequence of her selfishness was something he could accept

It wasn’t that he hadn’t noticed the twisted attachment growing in her eyes.

He’d even secretly enjoyed the feeling of being wanted that completely.

But who could’ve known.

That very same warped possessiveness had nearly gotten me left to rot in a ravine.

Three hundred lashes later

She lay sprawled on the ground, staring at him in the shadows, lips moving without a sound.

The air reeked of blood, but he didn’t seem to notice at all.

He just waved a hand, hand and had them drag her off to the Pack punishment cell.

Night deepened

He poured himself drink after drink

But the bitterness in his throat wouldn’t go down.

Through the haze of alcohol, memories surged back.

He remembered.

Back when he had nothing to his name, I was already by his side.

It was me who, on every stormy night, warmed his frozen body with a bowl of hot soup.

When he first became Alpha and the elders refused to respect him, it was me who went door to door with him, helping him settle every old grudge in the Pack

The first time he took the seat at the head of the table, I stood at the very front of the crowd, smiling brighter than he did, my eyes lit up like they held the whole night sky.

What had he promised me back then?

Oh, right.

He’d gone down on one knee, his eyes reverent.

“The Moon Goddess gave you blessed blood.”

“I want to give you a second half of your life where you never have to hurt again.”

All those memories now, now pricked at his chest like needles of ice, pricked at his chest, fine and relentless.

Serena always said I stole his affection away from her.

But if she hadn’t shown up out of nowhere, that affection was supposed to belong to me alone, alone for the

rest of his life.

He was the one who’d broken that promise.

And later, he’d even started ignoring my tears.

Maybe he’d been too sure.

Sure that no matter what, I’d never leave him.

Sure there was still a long life ahead to make it up to me.

He’d always thought we’d they’d have a whole lifetimelifetime together.

Never expected.

It would all come crashing to a halt.

Regret coiled around his heart like vines, squeezing until he couldn’t breathe.

In the depths of that grief-soaked night, his phone buzzed – buzzed, the sound oddly jarring.
