My Alpha Bonded with Someone Else, I Did Too Chapter 03

My Alpha Bonded with Someone Else, I Did Too Chapter 03

I looked at him and let out a bitter, hollow laugh.

Make me happy?

Before, whenever Cole wanted to appease me, he couldn’t even be bothered to show up, he just sent his Beta to run errands.

I laughed. “Was that supposed to be for me? Or for your female bestie?”

Turning on my heel, I chucked the cake straight into the trash can.

Cole’s face darkened.

“What the hell are you talking about?”

I looked at him, my voice trembling.

“You know exactly whether I’m talking nonsense.”

“You remembered everything she liked to eat. You remembered to pick scallions out of her food every time we went to dinner. You even remembered her period down to the day, but you forgot I was allergic to mango.”

“You even got a bonded certificate with her. What are you still pretending for?”

“Cole, I’ll give you what you want. I, Maya Blackwood, reject you as—”

Before I could finish, Cole suddenly slammed his fist into the mirror.

“Shut up!”

The glass shattered, and shards flew across my arm.

Blood welled up at once.

I only wiped it away calmly.

My wolf comforted me softly. “It’s okay, Maya. We will heal from this together.”

Cole’s voice rose sharply.

“I told you I was only helping her. What is the point of you clinging to this?”

“It’s just a certificate. I already said I’d have a mating ceremony with you. Are you really that desperate for a damn piece of paper?”

He bellowed so loudly my ears rang.

I stared at him blankly.

He had the exact same face, yet he felt entirely like a stranger.

Years ago, he had come to my pack to train.

The moment we saw each other, our wolves recognized one another.

But my parents had opposed our relationship because our packs were too far apart.

They worried I would not adjust. They worried I would be mistreated. They worried they would not be close enough to protect me.

They had begged me to reject Cole and wait for a second-chance mate.

But to earn my parents’ approval, Cole had once been willing to give up his position as Alpha of Silvermoon Pack.

He only wanted me.

Wherever I was, he said that was where he would be.

In the end, my parents chose to give us their blessing.

And I chose to follow him back to Silvermoon Pack.

This was his pack. I was supposed to be his future Luna. Protecting the pack had been our shared responsibility.

He had once sworn, “May the Moon Goddess bear witness. I, Cole Anderson, swear that if I ever betray Maya Blackwood, I will die a miserable death.”

Moon Goddess.

Would his oath come true?

There was no need to grant him death.

Just never grant him another mate.

Because he deserved no one.

Well… except Rachel Bennett.

Those two rotten souls suited each other perfectly.

Maybe the sorrow on my face was too obvious.

Cole rubbed his face in frustration, then stepped forward and pulled me into his arms in a desperate attempt to comfort me.

“I’m sorry…”

The next second, the special notification tone on his phone pierced the silence.

He glanced at it, and instant panic flooded his features. He grabbed his jacket and headed for the door.

“Maya, you’re about to become the pack Luna. You should learn to control your temper.”

“And I don’t ever want to hear you say you reject me again.”

The door slammed shut.

Only then did my tears fall uncontrollably.

I had already made up my mind, but it still hurt.

Leaving him, cutting off eight years of bond and devotion—it made the deepest part of my soul tremble.

My parents suddenly reached me through the mind link.

My mother’s voice shook. “Baby, are you hurting? I can feel you. Goddess, I wish I could hold you right now.”

Compared with her, my father sounded much steadier. “It’s all right. Life comes with pain. Our Maya can survive this.”

I took a deep breath and forced out a small smile. “Once I finish the paperwork to leave the pack, I’ll come home and give you both the biggest hug.”

The truth was, I was not sure whether Cole would let me leave.

Then my father suddenly laughed in that bright, hearty way of his.

“Oh, right. That young man said he’s coming to pick you up. He’s worried Alpha Cole won’t let you go.”

“He’s already gathered half the pack. Says he’s ready to take you back by force if he has to. Everyone misses you, you know.”

“I suggest you hold the mating ceremony right there in Silvermoon Pack. Under werewolf law, once you’re mated, you can follow your mate back to our Blackwood Pack.”

“That’s a good idea.”

After all, I had spent a lot of time preparing my mating ceremony.

It would be a shame to waste it.

The ceremony would still happen on the same day.

Only my mate would be someone else.
