My Alpha Bonded with Someone Else, I Did Too Chapter 01

My Alpha Bonded with Someone Else, I Did Too Chapter 01

At the pack gathering, everyone was playing a drinking game.

Rachel, Cole’s self-proclaimed “female bestie,” suddenly pushed a glass of liquor in front of me.

“Whoever’s been the other woman has to finish this.”

No one looked surprised. Someone even kindly explained it to me.

“Maya, you really should drink. Rachel and Cole got their bonded certificate a year ago. They posted it on social media and everything. They just blocked you from seeing it. Cole said he was afraid you’d make a scene.”

“So by the rules, you really are the other woman.”

I looked at Cole—my Alpha, my fiancé.

Was this seriously not some sick April Fools’ joke?

Cole swirled the liquor in his glass and nodded with casual indifference.

Rachel bumped her shoulder against his and smiled as she explained it to me.

“I’m basically one of the guys, you know? I’ve never been into any man like that. My family kept pressuring me to find a mate, and Cole was just being nice and helping me deal with them. Maya, you don’t mind, right?”

“Then what am I?” I asked Cole, my voice raspy and strained.

Cole pinched my cheek, smiling with careless ease.

“We were drunk that night. I mistook her for you. I had to take responsibility in some way.”

“The mating ceremony next month is still happening. She gets the certificate, you get the ceremony. Best of both worlds, right?”

Eight years of love collapsed in an instant.

I forced back my tears and said nothing else. Through the mind link, I answered my father.

“Dad, I agree. I’ll come home and accept the arranged mating.”

“Maya, hurry up and drink.” Rachel’s eyes glittered with open provocation. “Don’t tell me you’re a sore loser.”

The others immediately joined in.

“Come on, come on!”

“They have the Moon Goddess’s blessing, Maya. You really do owe us a drink!”

Their mocking, malicious stares pierced me like countless needles.

I was not a member of Silvermoon Pack.

I had joined because of Cole.

Maybe outsiders were always kept at a distance. Cole’s friends had always found little ways to make things hard for me behind his back.

Only this time, they had dragged it all out into the open.

At first, Cole used to protect me. He had even thrown one of his friends out of the pack for going too far.

But after Rachel came back, everything changed.

He went from warning his friends never to make things difficult for me, to staring at me coldly and saying, “Why are you so sensitive? They’re my friends. It was just a joke.”

I could barely hold back the wolf inside me.

My claws grew without warning, digging into the soft flesh of my palm.

It hurt.

But not as much as my heart.

Cole’s lips curved faintly, as if he too was waiting for me to drink the glass called “the other woman.”

When he noticed my expression was off, he squeezed my palm.

“Come on, Maya. Just drink it. Don’t make this awkward for everyone.”

I looked at him, my face cold.

“So you think I’m the other woman too?”

He wrapped an arm around my waist and lowered his voice, coaxing me.

“It’s just a game. No one actually dares to call you that.”

I pulled free of him, my tone hard.

“Don’t touch me. She’s your mate.”

Cole’s face darkened, impatience flashing across it.

“What the hell are you even upset about? Rachel and I are just friends. The bonding was a joke. I only did it to help her get her family off her back about finding a mate. She’s my friend. What’s wrong with helping her?”

Rachel quickly cut in.

“Maya, don’t misunderstand. Cole and I are just bros.”

“The only time it happened was when he got drunk and thought I was you.

He was so ravenous, like a beast unleashed.

He wrecked me so badly I could barely get out of bed the next day. And his technique was awful. If he weren’t my bro, I would’ve killed him.”

After saying that, she raised her fist and punched Cole lightly in the chest a few times.

Cole caught her wrist and pulled her into his arms.

“My technique was awful? Who was clinging to me that night and refusing to let me leave? You were screaming so loud the entire lower floor could hear you.”

Rachel’s face flushed bright red. She climbed onto Cole’s lap and covered his mouth with her hand.

“Stop slandering me, brat. Shut up.”
