My Adopted Sister’s Rage Was Only for Me,So After Rebirth I Fought Back Chapter 03

That evening, Mom was sorting the jewelry she planned to wear to the wedding when I asked

her to switch rooms with me.

“Switch rooms?” Her hands stilled. “Why?”

“My room faces the street. If I don’t sleep well and look exhausted tomorrow, it’ll embarrass

the family.”

I picked up a diamond necklace and placed it in its case.

“Besides, Lily has already had two episodes today. If she comes into my room tonight and

attacks me, I may not make it to the ceremony.

“She listens to you better than anyone. Even if she goes in there, she’ll calm down as soon as she sees you.”

Dad was a light sleeper and had spent years in the suite beside his study, so Mom had the primary bedroom to herself.

She still hesitated. “The makeup ar

“Then I’ll spend tonight at the hotel.”

“Absolutely not!” she said at once. “Reporters are already watching us. If you suddenly check into a hotel tonight, they’ll think the wedding is falling apart.”

In the end, she agreed. My safety meant nothing to her. All she cared about was the Bennett

family’s reputation.

That night, I moved my pajamas and slippers into the primary bedroom and placed Mom’s things in mine.

As I put away the last item, I noticed Lily standing on the landing. She had seen everything,

“What are you two doing?”

I deliberately blocked the doorway to the primary bedroom. “There’s too much wedding stuff in my room, so I’m borrowing Mom’s closet for the night.”

Her gaze dropped to the pajamas in my hands. “Then where are you sleeping?”

I smiled. “In my own room, of course.”

Lily smiled back. “Make sure you lock your door tonight.”

After dark, Mom showered, put on my pajamas, and settled into my room.

Just as I finished getting Mom settled in, Ethan walked into the room.

He put a small bottle of pills on the nightstand. “Lily has been crying again. She says you’ve been picking on her all day.”

He gave me a cold look. “Behave tonight. I don’t want any more trouble before the wedding.”

I glanced at the bottle. “What’s that?”

“Painkillers. If one of your injuries starts hurting tonight, take one instead of waking the whole house.”

Then he left.

Mom lay down and continued lecturing me.

“Your brother is only looking out for you. Once you’re married, this family will depend on him and Lily. Stop making things so difficult between you.”

I turned off the light for her.

“Mom, what if Lily really comes in here with a knife tonight?”

In the darkness, she rolled over impatiently. “She’s sick, not a murderer.”

I gently closed the door.

Back in the primary bedroom, I stayed awake and opened the feed from the camera I had hidden in my old room.

Mom soon fell asleep.

At 2:07 a.m., a figure in white appeared on the screen.

Barefoot, Lily stopped outside my door. She held a paring knife in her right hand and a spare key in her left.

The key slid into the lock, and the door opened.
