My Adopted Sister’s Rage Was Only for Me,So After Rebirth I Fought Back Chapter 01

Whenever my adopted sister had one of her manic episodes, she never hurt herself or anyone

else.

She only lost control when she saw me.

She had slammed my head into a wall, thrown scalding tea in my face, and even pushed me

from the second floor.

In my previous life, my entire family told me to be more understanding.

“Your sister is sick. She can’t control herself.”

“You’re the older one. Why do you keep provoking someone who’s ill?”

“You’ve only suffered a few minor injuries. That’s better than driving her over the edge.”

I gave in again and again.

In return, she burst into my room on the night before my wedding and plunged a knife into my

chest.

I tried to call 911 while pressing a hand to the wound, but Mom snatched away my phone, and my brother locked every door in the house.

They were afraid the police would take my adopted sister away, so they only called the

housekeeper to stop the bleeding.

By the time my breathing began to fail and they finally rushed me to the hospital, it was too

late to save me.

When I opened my eyes again, it was the day before my wedding.

This time, I said nothing.

Before nightfall, I quietly switched bedrooms with Mom.

The back of my head slammed into the wall.

Pain exploded through my skull, and my eyes flew open.

My adopted sister, Lily Bennett, had a fistful of my hair. She grabbed the cup of hot tea from the table and flung it at my face.

“Why do you have to get married?” she demanded between ragged breaths. Then she snatched up a pair of scissors and slashed straight through my wedding dress.

“If

you leave, Adrian won’t come see me anymore!”

Hearing those same words confirmed it. I really had come back.

In my previous life, Lily had stormed into my room on this very day, ruined my dress, and beaten my head against the wall until blood streamed down my face.

No matter how badly she hurt me, my family insisted she was having an episode and told me to

let it go.

Then, on the night before my wedding, she had stabbed me in the chest.

“What’s going on?”

Mom’s voice pulled me back to the present. She hurried into my room, then froze at the sight

of the wreckage.

Lily immediately dropped the scissors, crouched on the floor, and clutched her head.

“Mom, did I have another episode?” Her eyes went blank as tears spilled down her cheeks. “I

don’t remember anything. I didn’t mean to do it.”

Mom swept her into her arms. “It’s all right. I’m here, and no one’s blaming you.”

My older brother, Ethan Bennett, rushed in behind her. He frowned when he saw the blood on my forehead, then promptly stepped in front of Lily as if I were the threat.

“You know wedding talk sets her off. Why would you try on your dress here?”

I wiped the blood dripping into my eye. “Because this is my room.”

“So what? She’s already emotionally unstable. Stop expecting so much from someone who’s

sick.”

Ethan glanced at the ruined dress, his voice thick with impatience. “Just buy another one. Is a dress really more important than your sister’s life?”

I looked at all of them and suddenly laughed.

In my previous life, I had desperately tried to prove that Lily wasn’t having episodes.

She knew enough to lock the door before attacking me, avoid the security cameras while she

hit me, and act lucid the moment Mom appeared.

But no one had believed me.

The more I explained, the crueler they thought I was.

Fine. This time, I wouldn’t explain at all.

The family physician arrived and gave Lily a sedative.

“Ms. Bennett, a patient may not be aware of her actions during a manic episode,” he told me. “As the person she depends on most, you should avoid confronting her.”

“The person she depends on most?” I looked at Lily. “She only attacks me. Is that what dependence looks like?”

Mom’s expression darkened. “She loses control around you because she cares about you so

much.”

“Then why doesn’t she attack any of you?”

The room went silent.

Lily flinched, and her tears fell even faster. “Natalie, do you think I’m faking it?”

Mom immediately covered Lily’s ears. “Don’t listen to her.”

Then she glared at me. “Lily is already suffering. Will you only be satisfied once you’ve pushed her completely over the edge?”

Ethan’s voice was just as cold. “Your wedding is tomorrow. If you still want it to happen, stop

upsetting Lily.

“She’s ill. She wouldn’t hurt anyone if you didn’t provoke her.”

Hidden in Mom’s arms, Lily raised her eyes to mine.

There was no remorse behind her tears, only smug defiance.

I calmly held her gaze.

Of course. How could poor, innocent Lily possibly mean me any harm?

She only wanted to kill me again.

This time, it was their turn to find out what that felt like.
