Mom Abandoned Me to Save Herself Chapter 06

Mom Abandoned Me to Save Herself Chapter 06 Gorgeous Room, Traumatized Heart

I was moved out of the dark, damp tool shed into the grandest, most beautiful princess suite on the villa’s second floor.

Mountain-high piles of unfamiliar, expensive toys filled the room.

The wardrobe hung full of all kinds of lovely princess dresses.

In the middle of the room sat an ornate music box. When opened, a little figurine in a dress would spin and dance.

Its melody was beautiful, yet I snapped it shut after only one second.

The butler also tried to show me how to play with a remote-controlled car.

He showed me how it worked, the little toy car racing across the floor.

I merely watched, giving no response at all.

The butler eventually gave up, sighed, and stepped out of the room.

I reached out to touch the silky fabric of a dress, then jerked my hand back as though burned.

I only dared huddle in the farthest corner of the room.

All these things terrified me.

After Mom woke up, she locked herself inside her bedroom.

She would not eat, would not drink, and refused to see anyone.

From time to time I could hear muffled sobs coming from her room, and sometimes the crash of shattered objects.

The butler told me she cried inside every single day, her sanity hanging by a thread.

She could not bear the truth. She had abused her own long-lost biological daughter with her own hands.

Silas began fumbling to treat me well.

He brought me fancy, unfamiliar meals served on elegant plates.

The food smelled wonderful, yet I dared not eat it.

I stared at him, remembering how he had clamped his hands around my throat.

I shrank back in fear.

He held the spoon up to my lips, and I opened my mouth by instinct.

The moment the food touched my tongue, my stomach churned violently.

I could not hold it back and threw up all over his expensive suit.

He froze. The butler stepped forward to clean up, but Silas waved him away.

He tried to say something. His lips moved, yet no words came out.

He looked at me, his eyes overflowing with agony.

Marcel was filled with hostility and jealousy toward me.

He believed I had stolen his father and driven their mother into torment.

He snuck into my room and cut every one of my new dresses to shreds with scissors.

He also slipped salt into my drinking water when my back was turned.

I took one sip and choked, coughing violently at the strange taste.

He stood in the doorway watching, his face lit up with vengeful satisfaction.

Later he burst in again, pretending to “accidentally” knock over my water glass.

The cup shattered across the floor.

He sneered.

“Can’t even hold a glass of water. You’re utterly useless.”

When Silas found out, he punished Marcel sternly for the very first time.

He took away Marcel’s most cherished piano and confined him to his room for a month.

It was the first time he had ever lashed out at Marcel.

A deep rift tore open between father and son.

I began suffering endless nightmares night after night.

My dreams were filled with the image of my broken-limbed “Dad” from the

mountains.

And Mom, picking up stones and smashing them hard against my head.

I often jolted awake in the dead of night, letting out quiet, involuntary whimpers.

One night, Silas must have heard me crying. He pushed the door open and walked inside.

He tried to hold me and comfort me, the way a father should.

But the second his hand brushed my shoulder, I began shaking uncontrollably.

I recalled his threats as he choked me, his words about sending me back.

Warm fluid spilled out of me against my will.

I wet myself, right onto his costly suit trousers.

His body went rigid.

Faced with my terror and the whole family’s shattered mess, Silas felt helpless for the first time.

A profound helplessness that neither power nor money could fix.

He stepped out of the room.

He did not leave. He sat right outside my cold bedroom door.

He stayed there the entire night.

His back radiated exhaustion and despair.
