Silas snatched the DNA report.

His hands trembled violently, barely able to hold those thin sheets of paper.

He clutched the report so tightly that his knuckles turned white from the strain.

His eyes were fixed rigidly on that line of words.

“Paternal chromosome typing is a complete match.”

He stared at the report, then lifted his eyes to me in the car, before looking back down at the report again.

As if his brain could not process this truth.

He read it over and over, once, twice.

His expression shifted from shock to deathly pale, before fading to a sickly ashen

gray.

He spun around abruptly, staring fixedly at the thin, terrified, scarred little me inside the car window.

A hoarse, inhuman roar tore from his throat.

There was no anger in the sound, only overwhelming, soul-shredding regret and

agony.

Seeing his reaction, Mom rushed over and grabbed the report to read it.

The moment she saw the contents, her entire body froze stiff.

She stumbled backward, shaking her head nonstop.

“No, it’s impossible.”

Her voice was faint as a mosquito’s buzz, filled with terror.

“This can’t be true.”

Time seemed to stand still.

Her lips trembled, yet no sound came out.

The next second, she let out a bloodcurdling scream, her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed straight to the ground.

The scene descended into chaos.

“Hesper!”

Silas rushed over like a madman to catch the fainted Mom, then roared at the driver.

“Turn the car around! Go back to the villa!

“Call the doctors! Get every doctor here at once!”

His voice was filled with unprecedented panic, completely stripped of his usual calm composure.

Marcel was stunned speechless by the sudden disaster.

He pointed at me, his lips trembling, and stammered at his father.

“Dad, what-what’s going on?”

He glanced between the report and me, utterly confused.

“Who is she?”

Silas’s eyes were bloodshot. For the first time, he roared at his beloved son.

“She’s your sister!”

His voice was thick with weeping agony.

“Your baby sister we lost because of me!”

Marcel looked as if he had been struck by lightning, frozen on the spot.

He mumbled dazedly.

“No way. She’s just a dirty, worthless stray!”

Silas marched over, grabbed him by the shoulders, and shook him hard.

“Look closely! She’s your own flesh and blood sister!”

The atmosphere in the car on the way back was suffocatingly heavy.

Mother lay unconscious on the back seat.

Silas slammed his foot on the gas, speeding recklessly down the road.

Marcel huddled in the corner, shedding silent tears.

Sitting right in the middle of them, I was the terrifyingly calm center of the storm.

The car door was yanked open harshly.

I was lifted out of the cold vehicle.

For the very first time, I was brought into the bright, warm main villa.

But I was not greeted with a loving embrace.

Only crowds of white-coated doctors and cold medical equipment.

They surrounded me, examining my body and drawing my blood, as if studying a rare, fragile monster.

I listened as they discussed my malnutrition and old injuries.

“Old healed fractures on the ribs.

“Gastric atrophy caused by long-term starvation.”

I sat numbly, without moving an inch.

A loud crash echoed from the hallway.

Silas punched the wall hard, sending white plaster flaking to the ground.

Blood streamed down his fingers, yet he felt no pain at all.

He roared at his most trusted butler beside him.

“Investigate!

“Find everyone involved back then. Leave no one untouched!”

He paused, his voice laced with gritted-teeth hatred.

“Find that crippled trafficker, too! I’ll make him wish he was dead!”
