Mom Abandoned Me to Save Herself Chapter 04

Mom Abandoned Me to Save Herself Chapter 04 Blood That Saved the Old Master
I returned from the hospital with a thick cast wrapped around my injured arm. Mr. Faul sat beside my hospital bed, studying me intently for the first time. He asked about the life I had endured in the remote mountains. “Did he ever lay a hand on you?” I shook my head in denial. “Did she provide you with food?” I nodded softly. He lapsed into a prolonged silence, then posed another quiet question. “Did your mother ever hold you in her arms?” I hung my head, staring at my toes, unable to utter a single word. A tangled, unfathomable look flickered across his face. Shortly after we got home, the old gentleman suffered a sudden heart attack from extreme emotional turmoil. He was rushed straight into the operating room, in urgent need of a blood transfusion. The doctor rushed out of the emergency ward, drenched in sweat. “The patient is O-negative, and the blood bank is completely out! Is anyone here family? We need you tested right now!” Silas and Marcel proceeded to take blood tests without delay. The results came back swiftly, confirming neither of their blood types was compatible. No matching blood supply could be found across the entire city’s blood bank, halting the surgery entirely. The entire Faul family sank into despair. Standing at the emergency room entrance, watching their frantic demeanor, a memory suddenly surfaced in my mind. I recalled the day at the rural town clinic. After drawing my blood, the nurse had stared at me with a strange expression. She’d told me my blood was extremely rare and unique. Timidly, I walked up to the butler who was waiting on site and tugged gently at his coat hem. “My blood… might be compatible.” The butler promptly relayed this information to Silas. Upon hearing my words, Mom let out a cold sneer. “How could the blood of a bastard ever run through the veins of the Faul family?” She stared at me, her gaze full of scorn and disdain. “You’re just using this chance to cling to our family, aren’t you?” The emergency room door opened once more. A nurse announced that the patient was still conscious and needed to confirm the transfusion consent. Moments later, the nurse reappeared. Using his last ounce of strength, the frail old man on the hospital bed made a firm decision. He insisted on accepting my blood transfusion. A cold needle pierced my delicate arm. The nurse worked swiftly and wordlessly, treating me as nothing more than a blood donor. I watched my own blood flow steadily through the tube and into the old man’s body. Once the transfusion was finished, I was left alone in the observation room, overcome by severe dizziness. The surgery was a complete success, and the old man was out of critical condition. Having lost a large volume of blood at such a young age, I lay pale and feeble on a separate hospital bed. Not a single person came to check on me. Silas only glanced at me through the glass window, then instructed the butler indifferently. “Compensate her with a sum of money, arrange a top-tier boarding school, and send her away next week.” It was outright, thorough abandonment. Three days later, the old man regained consciousness. The first thing he did after waking was demand a paternity test. He said to Silas gravely: “I can’t shake the feeling that this child’s eyes are identical to yours as a young boy.” A week later, just as I was being forced into a black sedan, moments away from being sent away forever, the butler hurried over with a document in hand. “All your belongings are packed. Someone will pick you up at your destination.” I watched the villa shrink smaller and smaller in the rearview mirror, my mind utterly blank. A vehicle suddenly sped over and blocked our path completely. The butler scrambled to the car window and handed the document to Silas. It was an expedited DNA verification report. The conclusion stated clearly and unequivocally. I shared no biological relation with the human trafficker. My paternal chromosomal markers were an exact match with Silas’s. I was his biological daughter.
