Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 10

Luna Returned for Vengeance Chapter 10

Nora’s POV

Sophie was arrested in the end.

I was sitting by the window, staring at nothing, when I found out. Twilight hung thick outside, exactly like the evening when mom passed away.

Lucian wrapped his arms around me from behind and rested his chin on my shoulder. His voice was soft.

“It was Ethan. He gave the Pack Precinct the key evidence from Sophie’s drunk driving case.”

I was quiet for a long time before I finally asked, “How much time will she serve?”

Lucian’s arms tightened around me.

“She resisted arrest and fled the scene, then crashed her car. She did not survive.”

I stared out the window. It was a long time before I said anything.

Sophie was dead.

The woman who killed my mother. Who drove my father to his grave. Who led my grandmother to her death.

Finally dead.

I had my revenge.

I knew I should feel satisfied. But all I felt was sad.

The years she stole-I could never get them back. My mother. My father. My grandmother. They were never coming back.

Even dead, she couldn’t undo what she did. But she was gone now. What else was there to do?

I could only hope her wolf never found peace. That it remembered every life she took, forever.

Lucian must have felt how low I was. He pulled me fully into his arms and kissed the top of my head.

“It’s okay. it’s all behind us now. Better days lie ahead.”

My eyes stung. I turned around, wrapped my arms around him, and buried my face in his shoulder.

“Thank you,” I whispered.

I knew what he had done for me. His business was all overseas-but he moved it back to New York: piece by piece, just to take down the Lang family. He went against the entire New York pack’s network of power. He filed a cross-jurisdiction protection order with the Central Pack Council. He used the Vale family’s legal team and PR network to cut off every escape route the Langs had.

All for me.

Without him, none of this would have happened.

He was the best mate in the world. The person who loved me most, after my family.

And now, he was my family.

Lucian laughed softly. His fingers ran through my hair.

“Just a verbal thank you? That hardly feels sincere, does it?”

I looked up at him. There was a lazy warmth in his eyes-but his hand was already sliding down to my waist, pulling me closer.

My face went hot.

“Lucian…”

He leaned in and bit my earlobe, just gently. His voice was low and rough.

“Tell me. How are you going to thank me?”

My whole body went weak. I pushed at his chest. “Stop it.”

Lucian laughed against my ear. There was something almost whiny about it-almost sweet.

“Darling, I’ve held back for so long. I’ve missed you terribly.”

He loosened his tie and kissed the side of my neck. His Alpha scent wrapped around me–soft and

gentle, but absolutely unrelenting.

My wolf curled up inside my chest.

“The door’s still open,” I whispered.

He didn’t stop kissing me. “Relax. No one dares to interrupt us.”

Famous last words.

Right on cue, the steward’s voice came from the doorway.

“Sir, Ma’am. Mr. Ethan Shaw has arrived. He requests a word with Ma’am.”
