Loved Me, Then Destroyed Me Chapter 07

Janice forced herself through the wave of pain crashing over her and activated a teleportation array.

Her figure vanished on the spot. A second later, she reappeared near Tim.

The moment he saw her, he hurried over, reaching for her with an eager smile.

“Where did you go? I couldn’t even catch up to you.”

Janice didn’t look at him. She kicked him hard, sending him to the ground, then grabbed his hair and

yanked his head back.

“You injected Samuel with a septic agent?!”

Tim cried out, panic flashing across his face as he shook his head. “I didn’t! I swear I didn’t! Janice, what are you talking about? Why would I hurt Samuel?”

“Still lying?” Her hand closed around his throat, tightening bit by bit, her voice cold enough to cut. “Talk. Why did you do it?”

“Cough… Janice… I-I did it for us…” He struggled to breathe, words breaking apart between gasps. “If he stayed alive…we…we could never be together… I know you love me. You were just held back because

you’re married…”

Disgust flickered through Janice’s eyes. Her grip tightened. “Shut up! I don’t love you!”

Even as he choked, he still tried to argue.

“Th-that’s not true… You treated me better than him… How could you not…”

She threw him aside like trash and dragged him down into the basement. The space was dark and damp,

lined wall-to-wall with tools meant for pain.

Tim tried to crawl away, but Janice snapped his leg without hesitation.

“Everything Samuel went through, you’re going to feel it, too.” Her voice held no warmth at all. “It’s a shame I don’t have everything they used on him, but this will do.”

She opened an iron cage and tossed him inside. Then she picked up a branding iron, still glowing, and pressed it against his skin.

“Aaaah! No! Janice, please, let me go! Please!”

His screams tore through the basement, raw and endless.

Only then did Tim understand the scale of his mistake.

Janice was never a piece on a board, someone he could play with.

She was a demon, a complete psycho.

“Samuel!”

I jerked awake and found myself lying in a room I didn’t recognize.

Several strangers stood around me.

I scanned the space, alert. The room looked old-fashioned, almost like something out of a period drama.

“Where am I? Who are you?”

Janice’s mentor stepped forward, wearing a gentle smile. “Samuel. I’m the one who brought you here, through a pact with the governing force of this world.”

My guard went up immediately. “A pact? Governing force? What do you want from me?”

The mentor sighed.

“I can bring you back to life. In return, you have to stop Janice from breaking the rules any further. This

world is on the verge of collapse.”

I felt nothing.

“If it collapses, it collapses. What does that have to do with me?”

I was already dead. Whether this world held together or fell apart didn’t concern me anymore.

The old man hesitated, clearly caught off guard.

Then, urgency crept into his voice.

“Even if you don’t care about yourself, think about your family. If this world collapses, they won’t survive

it.”

That stopped me. My chest tightened. I might not care about coming back, but I couldn’t ignore that.

“What happened to Janice?”

I hesitated, but eventually asked anyway.

A younger man in modern clothes cut in, unable to hold back.

“She’s lost it. Every day, she’s down there, torturing Tim. That’s not even the worst part. She’s already coerced several chosen ones and is threatening the governing force itself. She says if you’re not brought back, she’ll kill one person a day. One’s already dead.”
