Live Streamed Death: Reborn to Ruin My Family Chapter 05

Chapter 5: It’s Over

The shriek of the alarm cut through the frenzy. Skyler’s thankyou froze on his lips.

“What the hell? Who called the cops?”

he shricked, already blaming some jealous neighbor.

The security door burst open. Cops and medics poured in.

“Freeze! Hands in the air!”

The lead officer’s eyes locked on the stack of concrete slabs on my chest-and the blood pooling beneath me.

“Medic! Now!”

Mark was the first to move. Not to help me. To block the medics.

“Don’t touch her! This is part of the performance! It’s all part of the show!”

He planted himself between me and the medics grinning like a cornered animal. “Officer, it’s all a misunderstanding! We’re doing livestream performance art!”

Stella started shrieking too. She dove for the phone, trying to shut the stream down.

“Stop filming! Stop it!”

The officer was faster. He snatched the phone.

“Preserve the evidence. Seal everything.”

The chat went nuclear.

No more gifts. Just comments flooding the screen.

[Wait, real cops? This isn’t fake?]

[She’s spitting blood! I saw it! That’s real!]

Skyler stared at the scrolling comments and lost it.

“Who let you in?! Get out! My stream! My millions! My mansion!”

Like a crazed animal, he went berserk, lunging at the medic…

Two cops took him down, pinning him to the floor.

“Let me go! Do you know who I am? I’m a huge streamer! You can’t afford to mess with me!”

In the chaos, Dr. Chance pushed through.

He rushed to my side, barking orders.

“Move! Get the stretcher! Stabilize her neck-possible lung puncture-she needs surgery, stat!”

Mark grabbed his arm, eyes bloodshot.

“You can’t take her! She’s my daughter! I already told you-it’s a performance!”

Stella sat on the floor, completely frozen, muttering to herself.

“It’s over. All over. My money… my mansion…”

They lifted me onto the stretcher. I watched the cops drag my family away.

One officer was checking a phone when he froze.

“Captain, look at this…”

Mark’s face went white.

I followed his eyes. A betting screen.

One line: Bet: Challenge Failed. Wager: $50,000

“Officer, it’s a misunderstanding! Mia has always been close to us. She’d never report us!”

Stella squeezed out tears, slipping into her lovingmother act.

“She’s just a kid throwing a tantrum. Messing around. We’d never really hurt her.”

The female officer slid a stack of photos across the table.

Fresh bruises, old scars-purple and blue crisscrossing my arms and back.

“Messing around? Ms. Clark, did ‘messing around’ leave these?”

Stella’s sobs hitched.

“She fell! She’s always been clumsy!”

The officer hit play. Stella’s own voice filled the room.

“Mia, what’s wrong with you? You don’t want to help your brother? Do you know how much we’ve invested in this?”

The sharp, vicious words clashed with the “loving mother” act.

Stella’s face turned the color of raw liver.

“I was just angry! What mother hasn’t yelled at her kid?”

In the next room, Mark’s roar nearly blew the roof off.

“She’s my daughter! I raised her! It’s only right she makes money for me!”

“So what if I hit her? A father hitting his daughter-since when is that a crime?!”

“She agreed to the stream! She wanted fame! Now that it went wrong, she wants to blame us? No way!”

The officer stared coldly.

“Mr. Clark, we found you placed a $50,000 bet on an offshore gambling site-in Mia’s name -that she would fail the challenge. Odds 100 to. Did she agree to that too?”

Mark’s arrogance froze. Sweat slid down his temple.

“I was just joking with a friend…”

In Skyler’s room, the twentyyearold manbaby did nothing but point fingers.

“It wasn’t me! My parents made me do it!”

“I didn’t know anything! My sister volunteered! She likes this stuff!”

“Officer, just arrest my parents! I’m innocent! I’m young! I’ve got my whole future!”

He bawled his eyes out, trying to wash his hands clean.

Dr. Chance showed me the interrogation footage after my surgery,

“They’re still fighting. Trying to pin everything on you.”

I looked at those three ugly faces on the screen. Not a ripple inside me.

In my last life, I lay dying while they divided up the money bought with my blood.

That’s when I saw the truth.

They never saw me as family.
