“Just a Freak Show, Don’t Be Dramatic” Chapter 09 Axel’s POV

Axel’s POV:

A chilly autumn breeze swept across Seraphine City while he waited at the hospital entrance for Nancy.

They had met when he was 20 and got engaged within 2 years.

From age 20 onward, his only birthday wish was ever to make her his wife.

That was why they rushed into marriage as soon as she began her career.

Axel always made a point of waiting for her to finish work.

But today was different. At this time, Nancy should have been downstairs already.

Axel frowned and decided to go upstairs and take a look.

As soon as he got up there, he saw Nancy getting scolded.

Patients’ families often came looking for trouble, so he listened carefully.

It turned out to be because someone had missed the vein five times in a row while giving a patient an IV drip.

He looked at the intern crying messily beside her and understood right away.

Nancy would never make a mistake like that. It must have been that intern who did it.

It was a long wait.

They only got to leave once Nancy wrapped things up.

Just before leaving, he quietly checked out the culprit and felt nothing but disgust.

From then on, Axel never showed up on time to get her after her shift.

The intern was such a mess that she kept messing up everything from handing out the wrong drugs to fumbling basic tasks.

He’d even caught Dylan losing his cool at her right there in the ward.

Over time, he found out her name was Willow.

He really disliked her.

But one day, he spotted Willow crying in a corner.

She finished crying, wiped her tears, and went right back to work.

Axel watched with the detached scrutiny of someone in power.

She might be foolish, but she certainly had resilience.

Axel lit the cigarette in his hand. “We’ll send you abroad. Just stop crying.”

He didn’t notice the phone buzzing in his pocket.

It was Nancy.

She had called twice, once for Axel and once for Dylan.

Neither got through.

Watching the fireworks shimmer in Willow’s tearful eyes, Axel thought that sending her away was for the best.
