“Just a Freak Show, Don’t Be Dramatic” Chapter 02

“Just a Freak Show, Don’t Be Dramatic” Chapter 02 Betrayed by Those I Loved

I just watched him round up every single guard and doctor in the hospital.

Looming over my bed, Axel put on his best worried face.

“Who the hell took my wife’s kidney?!”

Dead silence.

Dylan instantly blew up, playing the angry brother perfectly.

“If you can’t find out who did this, you’re all fired on the spot!”

Rage boiled inside me. I wanted to scream the truth in their faces, but my body wouldn’t cooperate.

I couldn’t even force out a single word.

I fought tooth and nail to be the greatest doctor, dedicated to healing people.

I endured the hardest families because I had my loved ones to support me.

They weren’t blind to my struggles.

Until Willow arrived as an intern, and my whole world shattered.

In the beginning, Willow was a total disaster.

She gave the wrong dose and almost poisoned a patient.

I had to constantly step in to fix her mistakes while the patients’ families kept filing complaints.

After learning the truth several times, Axel even transferred her away.

Dylan humiliated her publicly, pointing right at her nose and calling her stupid in front of everyone.

But somehow, they all changed.

When Willow caused a massive medical crisis, the usually impartial Dylan actually shielded her and covered for her mistakes.

“She didn’t mean to. She’s just an intern.”

“Sis, you’re her mentor. Why don’t you just take the fall for her?”

Axel put a hand on my shoulder.

“Just let her go. Don’t make a big deal out of this.”

I honestly thought that once she was gone, she’d be completely out of my life.

But I never expected that somehow, they had both fallen for Willow behind my back.

The sheer disgust just hit me all at once. I felt absolutely sick to my stomach.

They kicked everyone out, but Axel forgot to take his phone.

A notification suddenly popped up on the screen.

“Boss, got the photos of the freak show. When do we make the next move?”

I didn’t even have time to think before Axel walked in.

He held my hands and looked so in love.

“I can’t lose you again. Being the director is too hard. Just quit, and I’ll take care of you.”

Dylan walked in and chimed in, “Well, sis, the hospital doesn’t even make much money anyway.”

So, they just wanted me to make room for Willow.

I forced a smile, but they thought I agreed.

Axel’s assistant knocked on the door.

“Mr. Lewis, that patient woke up.”

Their faces dropped.

Dylan rushed to say, “It’s a VIP. Let’s go see.”

They dashed out, totally ignoring how bad their lie was.

I knew that important patient had to be Willow.

The drip was just done. I hit the nurse call button right away.

Still, nobody came in.

Normally, I could have done it myself.

But all my fingers were broken then.

So I had to bite the pain and get out of bed, planning to find a nurse to pull the needle.

Before I could even open the door, I heard Willow crying outside.

“What do we do now? They won’t listen to me, only Nancy.”

I peeked through the door crack and saw Axel hug Willow.

“Don’t worry. I’ll get Nancy Lewis kicked out for being unfit. You’ll be the only director.”

I froze at the door. I couldn’t recover even after Willow left.

Dylan ran over anxiously.

“Why don’t we just leak her freak show photos?”

Axel said quietly, “We have no choice now. Nancy still has us backing her, but Willow needs this more.”

I stood there in shock, seeing the blood halfway back in the IV line.

Backing me? All this pain was because of you. What nonsense were you talking about?
