I Was The Wrong Girl In His Bed For Three Years Chapter 09

Tessa looked at me. Then at Graham.

She picked up her bag without a word.

“Maren, I’m gonna head out.”

She hugged me on the way out.

“Call me if you need anything.”

The door clicked shut. The silence closed in at once.

Graham’s gaze landed on the boxes. His face hardened.

His jaw was clenched so tight I could see the muscle jumping.

“If you don’t want these anymore, I’ll get you new ones.”

“They’re mine. I can do what I want with them.”

Graham went quiet.

My voice dropped.

‘Or would you rather I give them all back?”

Something shifted behind his eyes.

“Where is this coming from?”

I didn’t answer. His eyes were rimmed with red, and when he spoke again, his voice cracked, raw in a way I’d never heard from him.

“What did I do wrong?”

Something in my chest stirred. A stupid, stubborn hope I couldn’t kill.

Maybe after all this time, some part of him actually cared?

The comments appeared.

[LMAO she’s not actually falling for this, is she? He doesn’t care about losing HER. He just can’t stand that she’s the one asking first.]

[Here it comes. His ego can’t take it.]

[Exactly. What makes her think she gets to dump Graham? With that face she stole?]

Every word stung. My eyes burned.

I shoved it all down and kept my voice flat.

“You know what you did.”

Graham stared at me.

“What are you talking about?”

The image of that box flashed through my mind. My eyes burned.

“Do I really have to spell it out?”

“I saw what you ordered.”

Graham went rigid.

The color drained from his face.

“Those were… I can explain.”

I’d never seen him look like that. Like he’d been caught.

Whatever was left of my hope died right there.

“Don’t bother, Graham.”

“Let’s just end this without making it ugly.”

Neither of us moved.

Graham stood there, his head lowered, silent.

I finished packing and headed for the door.

As I passed him, he laughed. Quiet and cold.

“Maren. I’ll admit I messed up.”

“But you stopped answering my texts. You moved out of our room. You gave my lunch to another

man. And now you want a divorce.”.

“Is it because of him?”

I blinked.

He meant Wesley.

So he’d seen us.

But it didn’t matter anymore.

“Think whatever you want.”
