I Was The Wrong Girl In His Bed For Three Years Chapter 01

I Was The Wrong Girl In His Bed For Three Years Chapter 01

I tore a hole in my stockings on purpose. My husband Graham Sterling didn’t even blink.

I wasn’t done trying. I changed into the dress I’d just bought, and that was when the comments appeared.

[She still has no clue. The only reason Graham married her is because Sloane catfished him with her photos.]

[LMAO. Graham has a crazy high sex drive but can’t even get it up for her. Every single time is just him going through the motions because she guilt-tripped him into it. She doesn’t actually think he’s into her, right?]

[Back then, Sloane was so heartbroken over him marrying the wrong woman that she left the country. Well, the queen is BACK. He is about to go full obsessed-husband mode, and the identity thief is going to get what’s coming to her.]

So that was why Graham fell for me at first sight.

That night, he showed up in my room like he always did: stone-faced, barely tolerating me.

For the first time, I pulled away before he could touch me. I kept my eyes down.

“I’m kind of over it. We don’t have to do this anymore.”

…

“You’re tired of it?”

Graham didn’t seem to get it.

He looked at me. His gaze dropped, trailing down my body.

Right. I was still wearing the dress.

Thin black straps. Sheer lace across my chest. A hem barely covering my thighs, with two tiny bows tied at the sides.

Every single review had promised the same thing: he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off me.

And when Graham walked in, he did stop. He just stood there.

I thought he liked what he saw.

The comments told me the truth.

He wasn’t turned on. He was irritated because I’d pulled another stunt to get him into bed.

My throat tightened.

I yanked the comforter up to my chin, burying myself underneath.

“I didn’t wear it for you.”

The bedroom went dead quiet.

Only the comments continued.

[LMAO does she think playing hard to get is going to make Graham jealous?]

[As if. He can’t wait to divorce her. The only thing this will do is make him think she’s cheating, and then he’ll cut her off completely.]

[Go ahead, girl. Keep digging your own grave. We’re all just waiting for everyone to find out she stole someone else’s identity. Once she’s exposed, divorced, and broke, she’ll end up as somebody’s sugar baby just to survive.]

Graham stared at me. The silence stretched until it hurt.

“Got it.”

He turned and walked into the bathroom.

The water ran for a long time.

I kept waiting for him to get angry. To demand answers. He didn’t do either.

He’d rather stand under a cold shower all night than look at me.

I peeled off the dress and shoved it to the back of the closet.

I killed the light and curled up under the covers. Alone.

It was so cold.

He hadn’t even asked.

But something heavy sat in the middle of my chest, damp and suffocating, and it wouldn’t move.

I couldn’t breathe around it.

The next day, I moved into the guest room.

I stopped waiting up for Graham. Stopped texting him.

I used to be so clingy it was embarrassing.

I wanted his eyes on me all the time and texted him over every little thing.

I’d tease him, play hard to get, drop hints about things I wanted him to buy me.

In the mornings, I’d wrap myself around him and refuse to let go until he gave me a proper kiss.

When he worked late, I’d send him photos of dresses and bug him.

[Which one do you like, babe?]

[It’s so late. When are you coming home?]

[Are you seriously spending the night at the office again?]

Graham’s replies never changed.

[They all look good.]

[Busy.]

[Go to sleep.]

I always told myself he just wasn’t the romantic type.

Now I knew the truth. He’d been sick of me for a long time.

He just couldn’t say it because we were married.

Around noon, our housekeeper, Ms. Barrett, stepped out of the kitchen.

“Mrs. Sterling, you’re not bringing Mr. Sterling his lunch again today?”

I used to bring Graham lunch at the office all the time.

After I moved into the guest room, he never came looking for me. So I stopped going.

I was about to say no when the comments appeared.

[She doesn’t actually think ignoring Graham for 2 days is going to make him realize he can’t live without her, right?]

[LMAO while she’s busy playing hard to get, Sloane’s already shown up at his office. They’re about to realize who the other really is.]

[Graham has always had a crazy sex drive, he just can’t get into it with her. Once he meets the one he actually wants? He’ll finally know what real chemistry feels like. There’ll be sparks tonight for sure while Little Miss Identity Theft sleeps alone.]

I stared at that last comment.

Something pressed down on my lungs, heavy and sharp.

I’d already made up my mind to let go.

But the second I pictured Graham holding Sloane Mercer like that, touching her the way he’d never touched me, my eyes burned all over again.

I changed my mind.

“Ms. Barrett, pack it up for me, please.”

“I’m going to his office.”

For now, I was still his wife.
