I Was Supposed to Attack the Hockey Captain, Then He Cried in My Arms Chapter 05

My face turned so red it was about to drip blood.

Caelan picked up the ball from the floor and looked at me.

The system howled like a donkey.

[What kind of aim is that?! How did you miss from there?!]

I took a deep breath and ran toward Caelan.

He handed the ball to me.

“Focus, idiot.”

For some reason, my ears heated.

Seeing him lift his foot to leave, I instinctively grabbed his sleeve.

The system wanted to refresh everyone’s memory and let me throw a second time at Caelan.

The condition was that I had to keep him there.

“Can you watch a little longer? I’ll play properly this time…”

The air went quiet.

I looked up at him with a pleading expression.

Caelan lowered his head to look at me.

Just as he was about to speak, his gaze suddenly seemed burned by something.

He coughed violently while backing away.

I reached out, about to pull him.

After a loud crash, Caelan fell onto the bleachers.

The system cheered.

[Great! Looks like he twisted his ankle! Humiliation Points plus ten!]

The task was complete.

But I was not happy.

I reached out to help him.

“Are you okay, Caelan?”

He was frowning in pain, but he was still coughing nonstop. His face was so red it looked ready to bleed.

“I wasn’t trying to leave. Cough. I just wanted to go to the bathroom.”

He picked up his jacket from the side and draped it over my shoulders.

“You keep practicing. I…”

Was Caelan really the cold hockey captain?

He was way too nice.

He had fallen like this, and he was still thinking about letting me continue practice.

Guilt wrapped around me.

I held his shoulder.

“Your ankle looks twisted. I’ll take you to Campus Health.”

After a few seconds of silence, he supported himself on the bench and sat up.

Then he lowered his head and zipped up the jacket he had put on me.

All the way to my neck.

I stared blankly.

Then I realized why his face was so red, and I started coughing too.

Damn the uniform manufacturer.

The white volleyball practice shirt turned see-through the moment sweat soaked it.

When we came out of Campus Health, the blush on Caelan’s face still had not faded.

I reached out to support him, but he limped ahead on his own.

“Didn’t the doctor say it was nothing serious? Just rest for a few days. Go back to class first. I have something to do.”

I looked at his back and sighed.

“System, now I feel like I’m the evil hockey captain.”

The system was too immersed in its own KPI to even bother with me.

That afternoon, Maya threw a clear plastic bag onto my desk.

“New volleyball uniform.”

I froze and quickly opened it.

Inside was a short-sleeve top and mid-length shorts.

“You had them change it?”

I turned and poked Caelan.

He ignored me.

I reached out and twisted his arm.

Only then did he slowly turn his head.

“The shirt was too small. The shorts were too short.”

Caelan’s voice was still cold and hard.

But looking at the tips of his ears, which had turned pink again, I also fell into embarrassed silence.

Caelan’s twisted ankle earned me nearly ten thousand dollars.

I bought him five or six strawberry red velvet cupcakes in one go.

Caelan opened one with a frown.

“Elara, don’t you think you’re wasting money?”

Before I could speak, a guy slowly walked over.

“Elara, can I borrow your literary theory notes?”
