I Was Planning Our Wedding When He Told Me He Had a Wife Chapter 12

Jason hadn’t actively contacted her in nearly two months. Hadn’t been back to that villa. The radio silence and her exclusive number going straight to voicemail panicked her. Finally, she couldn’t bear it and found their new home.

Jason opened the door. Seeing her, the man’s brows knit instantly.

In his past impression, Chloe was like a vine clinging to a shady corner. Quiet, timid, waiting for his occasional favor, never proactively crossing boundaries. Never appearing at unapproved times, in unapproved places.

Her “obedience” had been his most worry-free reason for keeping her on the periphery of his life. But now, here she was, abruptly appearing in the space belonging to him and Evelyn. It repulsed him.

“Didn’t I tell you to stay put and not wander around?”

Chloe’s lips trembled, her eyes darting past him into the warm, lit living room, taking in the soft sweater, the casual ease of his posture. This wasn’t the sharp, impatient “Jason” she knew. This was someone else’s version of him. “Jason… I was scared… scared you didn’t want me anymore! Is Ms. Jones… is she alright?”

Jason instinctively glanced back. Evelyn was peeking out curiously from the dining area. “Jason, who is it? Do we have guests?”

“Just a… distant relative. Stopping by.” Jason brushed it off hurriedly, trying to keep Chloe outside.

But Evelyn had already walked over, affectionately linking Jason’s arm, smiling without the slightest reservation. “Hi there, I’m Jason’s fiancée, Evelyn Jones. Come on in, we were just about to have dinner.”

Chloe was passively let inside. During the meal, she noticed all the attention and care Jason had once reserved for her was now transferred to Evelyn. Serving her food, filling her soup bowl, wiping her mouth, meticulous and attentive. Her hands under the table clenched and relaxed repeatedly.

What chilled her even more was her several attempts to bring up the countryside, Jason’s parents, only to be smoothly interrupted by Jason each time. The warning in Jason’s eyes when he looked at her grew more and more obvious.

After the meal, Jason went to take a call. The living room held just the two women.
