I Was His Wife, But His Mistress Took My Name Chapter 08

I Was His Wife, But His Mistress Took My Name Chapter 08

It wasn’t until Vivian disappeared from his world completely that Adrian finally realized how much of his life

she had always occupied.

The reason he had taken her presence for granted all those years was because he was certain Vivian would

always stay where she was, waiting for him.

As panic consumed him, a terrifying thought slowly surfaced.

If…

If he had never divorced her, never let Evelyn move into their home, and never forced her to give up her family

name…

Would Vivian have stayed?

A sharp pain pierced through Adrian’s chest.

He had been unbelievably foolish.

It was only an illegitimate child.

Even Evelyn was nothing more than the illegitimate daughter of the Mercer Family.

Why had he broken Vivian’s heart for two people like them?

With trembling hands, Adrian picked up the photo on his desk.

In that small picture, Vivian smiled at him gently.

Just like she used to.

The door suddenly opened.

Evelyn walked in with red eyes.

“Adrian, you haven’t come home for three days.”

“Our son has been crying because he misses his father.”

“Can you come home and see him?”

But Adrian only said in a hoarse voice:

“Get out.”

Evelyn stepped forward and grabbed his arm.

“Adrian, Vivian is gone!”

“She took the money and left you behind.”

“Why are you still holding on to her?”

“My son and I can be the ones beside you from now on.”

“We can become a happy family.”

“If you miss her, you can think of me as her. I don’t mind-”

Adrian suddenly grabbed her by the throat, cutting her off violently.

“Shut up!”

He gritted his teeth.

“You’re not her.”

“You’ll never be able to compare to her.”

“If it weren’t for you, none of this would have happened.”

“You and your family deceived and manipulated her for three years.”

“You took everything from her–her husband, her family, and now even her name!”

“If it weren’t for you, she would still be here with me!”

Evelyn grabbed his hand, coughing painfully.

But the anger in her eyes only grew more twisted.

“Adrian, are you blaming me now?”

“Don’t forget…”

“Part of the suffering Vivian endured over these three years was because of you.”

“The biggest reason she left in despair was you!”

Evelyn finally broke free from his grip and screamed:

“Adrian, wake up!”

“You were the one who chose to stay with me for three years.”

“You were the one who chose to have this child.”

“Everyone in Alderwick City knows I’m your wife now.”

“Vivian has already been forgotten.”

“She’s not coming back.”

“You have no choice but to live with me.”

Adrian let out a cold laugh as he stared at her.

“Wife?”

“You think signing a marriage certificate makes you my wife?”

“Evelyn, in Alderwick City, I have enough power to make sure this situation goes the way I want.”

A dangerous madness slowly surfaced in Adrian’s dark eyes.

His voice was low as he warned her.

“You’d better leave my office quietly right now.”

“Then go home and pray that I can find Vivian.”

“Otherwise…”

“I can’t guarantee what happens next.”

Fear finally appeared in Evelyn’s eyes.

She turned around and rushed out.

At that moment, his assistant pushed open the door and hurried in.

“Mr. Whitmore, we found a lead on Mrs. Whitmore.”

He placed the laptop in front of Adrian.

“There was a shooting in the Montavera recently.”

“Look at this woman.”

“Does she look like Mrs. Whitmore?”

Adrian’s fingers trembled as he enlarged the photo.

It was really her.

His heart started racing.

In a low voice, he ordered:

“Prepare the private jet.”

“I’m leaving for the Montavera now.”
