I Was His Luna, Not His Trash Chapter 08

Some things can’t be undone. 

On the day I was discharged, Aaron followed me 

around, a changed man. “Please,” he begged, his voice 

hoarse. “Can we…go back? Pretend none of this 

happened? I love you.” 

“The courthouse opens at two,” I said. 

“I won’t sign anything.” 

“Then I’ll see you in court.” 

I got in the car. In the rearview mirror, Aaron and Aiden’s lonely figures grew smaller on the sidewalk. 

Aaron crouched down, head in his hands, shoulders shaking. Aiden stood there helplessly, then put a small 

hand on his father’s back. 

Aaron didn’t show up that afternoon. I had my lawyer file the papers. Thanks to Chloe’s efforts to prove her importance, evidence of the affair was easy to find. 

I heard about the confrontation at the hospital from others. Chloe had screamed, refusing the procedure. 

Aaron had completely lost it. 

In the end, they lost the baby anyway. 

At the second hearing, the court issued its ruling. The 

bond was severed. Relief washed over my chest like a weight had been lifted. 

On the courthouse steps, just as we were heading to the 

records room for the final paperwork, Aiden ran up. His eyes were red and swollen, his small body trembling. 

He wrapped his arms around my waist, clinging desperately. “Mom, please! Don’t do this! I’ll be good, I promise! I won’t act up anymore! Please don’t leave 

me!” 

I gently pried him off. “Aaron, control him.” 

The last glimmer of light in Aaron’s eyes died. He took 

Aiden’s hand and pulled the sobbing boy back. 

Severing the bond was quick. There was nothing left 

between us. 

“Elena,” he said, his voice raw. “The assets are 

distributed as you requested. I just…I have one more 

request.” 

“Please, come see Aiden once a month. That’s not too 

much to ask, is it?” 

I looked at the man who had once been my entire world. 

“No,” I said. “I won’t.”
