I Walked Away From His Regret Chapter 09

Queenie’s face changed instantly.

Her voice turned high and wounded, “Edward, she insulted me first! She-”

“I know what kind of person Sheryl is.” Edward cut her off, “She would never attack you for no reason.”

Queenie looked like she couldn’t believe it. “You trust her that much! How long have you even known her?

You trust her more than you trust me?!”

I didn’t feel like arguing with them. I tapped a few things on my phone.

I said totally calmly, “I spent a lot of money to dig this stuff up. It’s a waste to keep it to myself. Might as well we all look at it together.”

I finished speaking and created a group chat with me, Edward, and Queenie.

Then I dumped all the screenshots, links, and timelines into the chat all at once.

Messages popped up one after another on the screen.

There was the timeline showing she moved in with that guy the second she broke up with Edward.

There were photos of the guy partying with Queenie the night before he married his pregnant bride.

Queenie went dead quiet. Her whole hand was shaking, “That’s not…”

I exited the group chat.

I slipped my phone back into my pocket and turned to leave.

Queenie’s panicked voice rushed out from behind me, “Edward, listen to me! All that stuff isn’t necessarily

real. She faked it….”

Edward told her to get out.

I walked through the lobby, pushed open the door, and headed into the parking garage.

I was just about to get in my car when I heard hurried footsteps behind me.

Edward ran after me. The second I pulled my car door open, he slammed a hand on it.

He was out of breath, “Sheryl, don’t go.”

“I didn’t ask her to come here. It ended between us a long time ago. I only see her as a friend.”

I turned to look at him

“You saw Evelyn as a friend too

“Would you ever talk about divorcing me because of her?

“Would you ever leave me alone outside a restaurant on New Year’s Eve, and tell me to go home and cool off

alone because of her?”

He had no answer.

I laughed sarcastically, “Edward, you’re too sloppy when it comes to relationships. You don’t love her now,

but you can’t let go of her.

“I don’t believe you really don’t know she got with someone else soon after she left the country. I don’t believe you really don’t know she cares more about money than she does about you. You just can’t let go yourself.”

A raw, shaking emotion welled up in his eyes.

“Ten years of history is too heavy for you, and it’s too heavy for our marriage.”

I reached out and pulled his fingers off the door frame.

I got in the car and turned the engine on.

In the rearview mirror, he stood rooted to the spot, not moving an inch.

I didn’t look again. I pressed the gas and drove off.
