I Saw Comments Saying I Would Die Alone After the Fourth Divorce Chapter 05

Wasn’t he supposed to be with Audrey right now? What was he doing here?

But I couldn’t think about that right now. The moment the doctor gave us the results, I fell apart.

Julian reached for me and I shoved him back.

“This is your fault! If you and Audrey hadn’t been driving me insane every damn day, I would’ve been paying attention! I would’ve noticed something was wrong with my dad!”

He didn’t let go. He just pulled me in tighter until I stopped fighting it. So I wiped my nose on his shirt instead. Petty, but satisfying.

Julian sighed and rubbed slow circles on my back. “Fine. My fault. But it’s early stage should keep it under control. He’s going to be okay. So why are you losing it?”

I went still. Pulled back just enough to catch the doctor and Dad watching us with soft, knowing looks. A wet hiccup escaped before I could stop it.

After Julian left to fill the prescription, Dad pulled me aside.

“Sweetheart, listen to me. Julian’s not the type to show it, but that man does care about you. You threaten divorce every other week and he just… lets you cool off. Never walks away. That tells you

something.”

“A man like Julian – with his money, his looks – he could have anyone. But has he ever actually crossed the line? Have you ever caught him red-handed?”

I almost told him everything. The jewelry store, Audrey, the ring shopping, the comments that spelled out my own ending. All of it pressed against the back of my teeth.

But I looked at the gray at his temples, and the words got stuck in my throat. He was sick. The last

thing he needed was something else to worry about.

It could wait. I needed him to get better first.

I drove Dad back to his place and ran through every instruction with the caregiver twice-his

medication schedule, his meals, warning signs to watch for.

When I came back out, Julian was still waiting by the car. Didn’t he have somewhere else to be?

I didn’t ask. We drove home in silence.

I showered, changed, and settled into bed with my phone. Stella had sent over her damage report.

I was scrolling through the receipts with a very satisfied smile when warm hands slipped under the

covers.

I looked up, and Julian’s dark eyes were already on me.

His robe hung open at the chest, hair still damp from the shower.

I opened my mouth to ask what he was doing, but-

Something cold slid onto my ring finger.

I went still. Looked down. A diamond as big as my knuckle sat on my hand.

The setting, the cut – it was that ring. The one from the jewelry store. The one I’d thought was for

Audrey.

“You’ve been begging for the biggest one they had,” Julian murmured against my ear. “So here it

is.”

Before I could answer, his mouth was on mine.

The comments exploded.

[NOOO the villainess literally used her sick dad to guilt-trip the ML into giving HER the ring that

was supposed to be the FL’s!! I can’t believe this!!]

[It breaks my heart watching the ML force himself to do this with that cold look on his face. And

what kills me is this trash-ass villainess has had him God knows how many times when the FL

hasn’t even gotten to touch him yet!!]

[It’s fine, the ML is just going through the motions. His heart belongs to the FL and only the FL!)

They were right about one thing, though. It had been a while.

And if the comments were telling the truth – Julian and Audrey hadn’t slept together?

That meant this man was still mine. He hadn’t strayed.

That was all I needed to know.

I stopped thinking and pulled him down to me.

And then, Julian’s phone rang.
