I Saw Comments Saying I Would Die Alone After the Fourth Divorce Chapter 04

Stella got one good look at the woman’s face, and her expression soured.

“Isn’t that the bitch who blew up your marriage?”

“What the fuck is Julian doing? You two just got back together and he’s already out here with her again?”

I’d already turned to leave, but Stella grabbed my arm, looking ready to throw down.

“Where are you going? Since when do you back down from anyone? You’re his wife, Chloe. Let’s go in there and remind them both of that.”

Her words hit me like a splash of cold water. She was right – I’d been letting those comments get in

my head.

Somewhere in my head, I’d already accepted the role the comments gave me — the woman who gets thrown away in the end. So my instinct was to shrink. But why? Why was I the one backing

down?

Even if I was going to lose him in the end, I’d be damned if I let those two humiliate me on the way

out.

I sucked in a breath, squared my shoulders, and turned back toward the store.

But Julian must have felt my eyes on him. His gaze snapped to the window and landed on me, and his face closed off — brows pulling tight, the softness gone in an instant.

[See how annoying the villainess is?? The ML was literally beaming at the FL, and the SECOND he

sees the villainess, his whole mood tanks!]

[Wait wait wait – is the ML ring shopping with the FL?? Is this a proposal setup??]

[Ugh, the villainess is about to storm in and bully the FL using her daddy’s clout. But ticktock – her precious safety net is about to go down, and then let’s see her act untouchable without him!]

My blood went cold. Something was going to happen to my

dad?

The rage drained out of me in one breath. All I could feel was fear.

Audrey, Julian, the jewelry store – none of it mattered anymore. I grabbed Stella and shoved

Julian’s black card into her hand.

“Max this out for me – buy whatever you want with it. I have to go. Right now.”

I was in the car before she could answer, already merging into traffic.

If the comments were right, my dad was already sick – he just didn’t know it yet. He’d write it off as getting older and tough it out. By the time anyone caught it, it would be too late. He’d have barely any time left. That was all.

The thought of losing him – the man who had given me everything, my whole life – knocked the

wind out of me.

When I got home, Dad was in the garden, watering his flowers. Retirement had turned him into an obsessive plant dad, and he loved every minute of it.

“Well! Look who’s home – there’s my little princess.”

He was grinning at me, so bright and alive, and my eyes burned before I could stop them.

My mom died giving birth to me. Dad aged a decade overnight – people said his hair went gray

before the funeral was over.

For years after, everyone pressured him to remarry. My grandmother pushed the hardest – threatened to disown him, told him flat-out that I wasn’t sharp enough, that he needed another child. A real heir. Someone who could actually carry the family forward.

He refused every single time. Chose me, over and over, and poured everything he had into making sure I never felt like I was less than enough.

The comments flashed through my mind. I walked straight to him.

“Dad, when was your last physical?”

“Oh, pretty recently. A year or two ago, maybe.” He cleared his throat and wouldn’t look at me.

“Your old man’s built like a tank – nothing wrong with me except the same old cough I’ve had for years. I’ll be around long enough to spoil your grandkids, don’t you worry.”

I read him like a book. Men his age and doctors – it was always the same story. They’d rather tough

it out until they dropped. Dad was no different.

“We’re going to the clinic. Right now. No arguing.”

One look at my face and he knew better than to argue. He grumbled the entire way to the car, but he

came.

The real surprise came later at the clinic. Julian showed up.
