I Returned the Heart, but the Wolf King Gave Me His Chapter 01

I Returned the Heart, but the Wolf King Gave Me His Chapter 01

Patricia’s pov

On my way to Wolf Pack Hospital for an abortion, someone handed me a survey.

“What moment would you most want to return to?”

I thought for a few seconds, then wrote my answer lightly with the pen.

“I wish I could go back to the day of the massive pileup in Coldcreek Pack and stop the pack doctor from saving me.”

The woman standing nearby gasped in surprise when she saw my answer.

“I heard only nine people survived that accident. Why would you want to stop the pack doctor from saving you?”

I touched the transplanted heart in my chest and looked up at the mall’s largest screen.

The screen was playing footage of Alpha Michael splurging millions of dollars on a sapphire ring for a woman from the Wolf Pack Theater Troupe.

Everyone envied her for having won the heart of Coldcreek Pack’s Alpha.

But no one knows that the child I’m having aborted today is Alpha Michael’s.

I forced a smile.

“Because I was the one who should have died.”

Back then, the pack doctor mistook me for Elizabeth Johnson, Alpha Michael’s sister, and cut her heart out and gave it to me.

I’ve lived with this heart for three years.

Alpha Michael has hated me for three years, too.

I think it’s time to return this heart—the heart that carries Alpha blood.

The woman who handed out the survey was stunned by my answer.

Her lips parted slightly. She hesitated before speaking.

“It wasn’t your fault.”

“Don’t be so hard on yourself. Let bygones be bygones.”

“You have to look forward.”

After offering a few words of comfort, she couldn’t help but ask again.

“That girl’s brother didn’t come after you, did he?”

I shook my head, a bitter smile on my lips.

Back then, Alpha Michael never came after me. Instead, he comforted me countless times.

Every night when I was consumed by guilt, he would rush back from Radius Pack, thousands of miles away, just to be by my side.

When the medicine made me so sick I couldn’t stop throwing up, he drove out in the middle of the night to buy my favorite donuts.

I thought Alpha Michael loved me.

Until our one-year anniversary, when he brought a woman back to the pack house.

After the two of them tangled together in our bed, he looked at me coldly as I wept, tears streaming down my face.

“Patricia Moore, if you and Elizabeth hadn’t switched clothes that day, how could the pack doctor have made that mistake and cut out an Alpha’s heart for you?”

“Elizabeth was spoiled rotten since she was a pup. The smallest scratch would make her cry for hours. Do you have any idea how much pain she was in before she died?”

“Patricia Moore, I want you to spend the rest of your life atoning for Elizabeth.”

When Alpha Michael dredged all of this up again after so many years, the blow landed even harder, even crueler.

After that day, he started bringing home a different woman every month. He forced me to watch every time.

He let those women hurt me, over and over.

They locked me in the basement. Three days and three nights without a single drop of water.

They tied weights to my legs and threw me into the frozen lake.

These three years—I’m exhausted.

So, since Alpha Michael hates me so much for taking Elizabeth’s heart—

I’ll give it back.

With the abortion paperwork in my hand, I arrived at Wolf Pack Hospital for my third scheduled heart removal surgery.

When the pack doctor saw me, he frowned and refused immediately.

“Patricia Moore, I’ve told you—you’re still pregnant. We can’t perform a heart removal surgery on you.”

I didn’t argue. I placed the abortion consent form on the table.

“I’m having the abortion today.”

“It won’t affect the heart removal.”

“But… once you replace that heart with an artificial one, you’ll only have a year to live. What’s the point?”

“Besides, the pup’s father has a right to know. Does your mate agree to the abortion?”

Would Alpha Michael agree?

The pack doctor’s words pulled me back to a few days ago.

I had been so excited to show Alpha Michael my prenatal test results.

Instead, I overheard his friend—an Alpha King—ask him a question.

If I got pregnant, would he keep taking revenge on me?

That pup would carry Coldcreek Pack’s Alpha bloodline.

Alpha Michael paused for a few seconds. Then he tipped his head back and laughed.

Like he’d just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.

“So what if it’s Alpha blood? I’m the one calling the shots.”

“Pregnant? Even better.”

“Patricia Moore owes Elizabeth a life. She can repay it with the brat in her belly.”

“Once she whelps, I’ll cut the pup’s heart out right in front of her.”

Alpha Michael’s words were like a needle dipped in wolfsbane, piercing straight into my heart. The poison seeped into every fiber of my body. I couldn’t breathe.

My thoughts churning, tears spilling down my face, I pressed a hand to my stomach.

“I don’t have a mate. And my child has no father.”

So there is nothing standing in the way of this heart removal.
