I Planned My Exit The Moment His Loyalty Score Began To Fall Chapter 06

Willa took us to an upscale seafood buffet, then drove us back to her spacious apartment.

Ever since she came to believe that every man would eventually chang his heart, Willa stopped dating and threw herself wholeheartedly into her career; she was now the general manager of a publicly traded

corporation.

Luna and I stayed at Willa’s place for two days.

The door lock records showed that Ethan hadn’t come home for two full days.

He was busy helping Summer find an apartment during the day and had to stay with her until she fell asleep

at night.

The old campus was crowded and full of all kinds of people, so Summer was always worried that that guy from before might show up again; at night, she wouldn’t let Ethan leave no matter what he said.

Later, Ethan sent me a message: “Summer is afraid to sleep alone. I’ll come back once she’s asleep.”

He must have felt a pang of unease at the sight of the red exclamation mark, but soon, drawn by Summer’s voice, he went off to tend to other matters.

He thought Claire was probably just throwing a tantrum–after all, she’d done this before because of his situation with Molly.

But he’d forgotten. As for what happened between him and Molly, I’d only ever made a scene about it once.

It was a day of torrential rain, and I’d asked him to pick up Luna from school. He’d agreed without hesitation, but in the end, he made Luna wait at school for over an hour.

By the time I finished what I was doing and rushed to the school, Luna ran up and hugged me and cried for a long time.

As soon as Ethan got home, I had a huge fight with him.

He explained to me that Molly had an appendicitis attack, and because the rain was so heavy, it would take the ambulance half an hour to arrive. Since it only took him fifteen minutes to drive her there, he decided to take Molly first. He hadn’t expected to be delayed at the hospital for a while.

Later, after Molly recovered, she made a point of bringing some gifts over to our house to thank Ethan. Most importantly, Ethan was completely at ease around Molly. The number on his head didn’t change at all.

Three days later, Ethan finally helped Summer move into her new place. The new apartment is in a new neighborhood, and the rent alone is $1,500 a month–far more than Summer could comfortably afford on her

entry–level salary.

Ethan paid a year’s rent upfront for Summer outright so she could settle in without worry.

To repay Ethan, Summer insisted on treating him to dinner, and the two chatted at a hot pot restaurant until

10:00 p.m.

On the way back, Ethan bought some fruit and cupcakes. He thought to himself, “I haven’t been home in several days–I really need to make it up to them.”

When he pushed open the door, he found the house pitch–black.

“Claire, Luna, I’m home!” Ethan said as he took off his shoes and headed toward the bedroom.

When he found the bedroom empty as well, Ethan panicked; a sense of inexplicable fear washed over him.

He turned on the light and saw the divorce agreement sitting on the coffee table in the living room.

Ethan’s hands trembled as he picked up the divorce agreement from the table.

After just a quick glance, his breathing became rapid.

“No! This can’t be!” He pulled out his phone and started calling me again.

I was still blocked.

“Why? I was just helping a subordinate move–and now you want a divorce?”

“Since when has Claire become so unreasonable?” Ethan’s eyes were bloodshot.

The number above his head flickered once more.

This time, it dropped to 60%.

The critical threshold.
