I Planned My Exit The Moment His Loyalty Score Began To Fall Chapter 05

I Planned My Exit The Moment His Loyalty Score Began To Fall Chapter 05

While I was having lunch, Ethan sent me a text message.

[After work, I’m going to show Summer some apartments; I might be back a little late.]

No sooner had the message been sent than I saw the red exclamation mark. I could imagine Ethan looking

utterly incredulous.

He swiped the screen to confirm that this was indeed Claire’s number.

But why was there a red exclamation mark?

Did Claire block him?

That can’t be!

Ethan sent another message: [I’m not coming. I’m heading home after work!]

Still a red exclamation point!

Now Ethan was really worried. He immediately stood up, walked over to the floor–to–ceiling window, and

dialed Claire’s number.

An automated voice came through the receiver. “Sorry, the number you’ve dialed is currently busy…”

He tried again, but still got a busy signal–it turned out even his cell number had been blocked.

That’s when Ethan really started to panic.

Just then, Summer came in from outside, carrying a takeout bag.

Seeing Ethan’s face as dark as thunder, she asked cautiously, “Mr. Hale, is something wrong?”

Half of Ethan’s anxiety melted away the moment he met Summer’s gaze.

He forced a smile and shook his head. “Nothing–Claire’s just giving me a hard time!”

Summer said, “Huh? Well, should I go explain things to your wife? Last night, I–I really didn’t mean to! I was just so scared… I didn’t have many friends around here… so the only thing I could think of was to call you…”

Summer’s little face looked aggrieved, and her eyes welled up with tears again.

“No, it’s not your fault! She’s just been a stay–at–home mom for too long–it’s normal for her to feel insecure. Once I’ve helped you move in, I’ll go talk to her.”

Ethan’s gaze fell on the takeout bag of bubble tea in Summer’s hand. “What’s this?”

I nodded.

“What is it? What is it?” Seeing that I wasn’t saying anything, she grew impatient. “What is it, then?”

“95 percent.”

She clicked her tongue. “Why not 100 percent?”

I said, “For feelings other than romantic love, anything above 60 percent is fine.”

Ever since that day, whenever Willa got into a relationship, she secretly asked me about her partner’s loyalty

score.

As soon as the Loyalty Percentage dropped below 80%, Willa would end the relationship early to cut her

losses.

That’s why Willa is now thirty–five and still unmarried.

At that time, I’ve only ever seen one person–Ethan–whose Loyalty Percentage has remained at 100% for ten

years straight.

But even now…
