I Let Him Marry Me So I Could Expose Him At The Wedding Chapter 09

Serena was in the same hospital.

Clearly, she had been tipped off and had dragged herself out to block my way, her face still bruised and

swollen.

Nora Bennett and Tessa Monroe, the other two college roommates who had attended the wedding, hurried

after her and tried to pull her back.

“Serena, stop making a scene,” Nora said. “You’re lucky Elena didn’t ut you in the ICU. What are you still trying to do?”

Serena refused to listen.

With the two of them supporting her, she limped toward me.

I stopped walking.

I wanted to hear how deep her delusion ran.

“Elena, fine. I’ll accept the beating,” Serena said.

“But I still don’t think I did anything wrong to you. If you couldn’t keep your own man, that’s your failure. Don’t blame other people.”

In this whole farce, I had never made her the sole villain.

When a man betrayed love, when he betrayed the marriage he had promised, could he really claim he had done nothing wrong just because some woman had tempted him on purpose?

His weakness, his indecision, his constant wavering were the real root of it.

If it had been any other woman, I might not even have blinked

But Serena was different.

Half of the best, brightest years of my college life had been spent with her.

She could have been swept away by love.

She could have fallen for Miles.

But she could not put on that bridesmaid dress, then try to swipe the groom right before I walked down the

aisle.

I stared at Serena, taking in the utter lack of guilt in her eyes.

Then, with a sharp crack, I slapped her hard across the face.

“Serena, whether you wronged me or not, you know the answer in your own heart.”

I looked at her coldly.

“I’ll tell you one thing. What you steal will never truly belong to you. I’ll be waiting for the front-row seat when you and Miles fall apart.”

After I left, Nora and Tessa did not take Serena back to her room.

Instead, they let go of her and prepared to leave.

Serena stared at their backs, her voice hoarse.

“Even you two blame me?”

She swallowed hard. “Didn’t you both know Miles liked me first? Why are you siding with Elena now?”

Nora, who had always been blunt, finally snapped and turned back angrily.

“Miles liked you at first, sure. That doesn’t mean he belonged to you forever. You rejected him back then.

Now you’re claws-deep in him because he is a cash cow, aren’t you?”

“Serena, every single boyfriend you’ve ever had has been rich. Should I be grateful my husband is broke?

Otherwise, would you have tried to steal him too?”

Tessa was usually quiet.

But this time, even she looked at Serena and said, “Honestly, after Miles hit the big time, I wondered once whether something like this might happen. But because of your friendship with Elena, I thought you would

never go after him.”

Her voice cooled. “Serena, I overestimated you.’

The hallway went quiet.

Only Serena remained there, slightly hunched, leaning against the wall.

If anyone bad walked past her at that moment, they would have seen the tears gathering in her eyes.

saw her as my friend that I waited this long,” she whispered. “I did nothing wrong.”
