I Let Him Marry Me So I Could Expose Him At The Wedding Chapter 08

Miles was the backbone of the entire Whitaker family.

He was the one who had made something of himself, the one everyone depended on.

When he spoke, no one in that family dared to utter a word of dissent.

Soon, only the two of us were left in the hospital room.

He spoke very slowly.

I had no patience to listen.

Now that the dust had settled, the stinging reality of his double life finally hit home.

Miles was the man I had loved with my whole heart for seven years.

He was the partner I had chosen, the person I had intended to grow old with, the family I thought would

never leave me.

So at that moment, every word that came out of his mouth made me feel sick.

I did not waste time arguing with him.

I went straight to the terms.

“The Fairhaven estate goes to me. My thirty percent annual profit share stays exactly the same. Agree to

that, and we can end this cleanly.”

The house Miles and I had bought for our married life sat in one of the best neighborhoods in Fairhaven.

We had paid nearly seven million dollars for it, and with all the custom renovations and high-end finishes,

it would easily sell for more than ten million now.

I had to have it.

The truth was, the Whitaker family had been wrong about me.

When Miles was building his company, I wasn’t just the bankroll.

I had helped him land most of the company’s major clients too.

It was just that later, whenever people mentioned the company, I had become a ghost in the machine.

Why had I faded into the background?

Because I had realized Miles was deeply controlling when it came to the business.

Back then, if he caught even the smallest mistake from me, he would tear into me until I was drained.

I got tired.

I got worn down.

So I told him I would remain a silent partner and stop being involved in operations.

Miles agreed without hesitation.

After I stated my terms, Miles stayed silent for a very, very long time.

Was he refusing?

I had already been generous.

I was not even asking for the moon.

Did he really dare say no?

Seeing the fury in my eyes, Miles finally pulled his reluctant gaze away from me.

He spoke too slowly, so all he could do was shake his head, a little urgently.

Half my anger cooled.

I did not understand what he meant.

Miles took a deep breath, then said with difficulty, his voice barely above a whisper, “Elena, I never touched

her.”

For one second, I froze.

Then I let out a harsh, dry laugh.

“So what?”

I looked at him.

eck out of our relationship months ago? Did you not crowdsource your betrayal on the

u not tattoo Serena’s name over your heart?”

Which one of those things did you not do?”
Tips parted, but he could not find a single excuse.

Because all of it was true.

Tears gathered at the corners of his eyes, shining as if he still loved me.

Disgusted, I turned my face away and stood up.

“If you want to cry, go cry to your precious Serena,” I said. “Miles, your tears make me want to throw up.
