I Faked My Death to Escape the Mafia Don After My Daughter Died Chapter 04

At night, Giovanna sensed someone climbing into bed.

A man’s hand covered her waist, warm breath brushing against the side of her neck.

His voice was full of guilt.

“Does your face still hurt?”

“I’m sorry, Giovanna. I lost control for a moment. Serena almost died giving birth to Dario. It

wasn’t easy for him to survive. I can’t bear to see him bullied…”

So Ansela could be bullied?

That tiny girl had been weak and sickly since childhood, yet when she got shots, she would

comfort them instead.

“Daddy, Mommy, don’t worry. Ansela won’t cry. Ansela is the best little girl.”

She had been so obedient that even after she was kidnapped, she didn’t struggle or scream.

Because her father had taught her that when she met bad people, she had to obey for the

time being so she wouldn’t anger them.

Because she heard her mother’s voice and believed her mother would save her.

Every thought of it tore Giovanna’s heart open.

Vittorio continued, “I’ve arranged for them to stay in the west wing. They won’t get in your

way. We’ll be like before.”

“You miss Ansela very much, don’t you? Then we can have another daughter…”

As he spoke, his kiss fell.

Giovanna was just about to push him away when his phone rang.

“What? Dario has a fever?”

Rustling came from behind her as Vittorio hurriedly got up.

He did not forget to kiss the top of her head.

“I’ll be back soon. Wait for me.”

Before Ansela’s accident, Vittorio had always been like this too.

Whenever he answered a call, he would drop everything and run out without looking back.

Now that she thought about it, it must have been for Serena and her son.

Back then, Giovanna would hold Ansela and stay awake all night just to wait for him.

Now she simply turned off the light.

She would never do something that stupid again.

Giovanna did not expect to wake up and find Vittorio sitting beside the bed, his face dark.

In his hand was her phone.

Giovanna’s heart jumped.

Had Vittorio discovered her plan?

“Giovanna Ricci, I know Ansela’s death hit you hard. I can overlook you making things difficult

for Serena, but how could you do something like this?”

Before she could figure out how to explain, Vittorio threw the phone at her face, dark fury

pressing in his eyes.

“Posting what happened three years ago online and letting Serena and Dario get

cyberbullied? I underestimated you. You even thought of such a vicious trick.”

Giovanna picked up the phone and quickly checked the account that had exposed the

kidnapping case from three years ago.

Her voice turned cold.

“I didn’t do this.”

“And even if I had, so what? Isn’t it the truth?”

Vittorio shook with anger.

“Giovanna Ricci, you really don’t know how to repent.”

He took a deep breath, barely calmed himself, edited a statement, and handed it to her.

“Post this from your account. Then I’ll pretend this never happened.”

Giovanna glanced at it.

Vittorio wanted her to publicly state that three years ago, the kidnappers had targeted Ansela,

and Ansela’s mischief had dragged the little boy into it.

So saving the boy had been the obvious choice.

Giovanna could not imagine what kind of insults she and Ansela would suffer once that

statement was posted.

She herself did not matter.

But Ansela had been gone for three years.

Vittorio still wanted her cursed by strangers.

Giovanna clenched her fists and almost roared.

“Impossible. If you force me to post this, I’ll die.”

Vittorio looked at her in disbelief.

“You’re threatening me with your own life? You know how much I care about you.”

“You want to be stubborn? Fine. I’ll indulge you. Starting today, you’re confined to the top

floor of the main building. For one month, you don’t need to accompany me to any events.

When you’re willing to clear Serena’s name, you can come out.”
