Vittorio froze.

His heart seemed to be seized in a fist.

He was about to speak when Serena cried out in pain.

“It hurts…”

He instantly grew tense, lifted Serena into his arms, and left.

He threw only one sentence behind him.

“Think about what you’ve done.”

When disappointment reached its limit, nothing moved her anymore.

Giovanna smiled mockingly, got up by herself, found a first-aid kit, and bandaged her wound.

Vittorio did not return for the rest of the night.

Giovanna did not care.

She slept alone.

The next day, she took the cake she had made and went to the cemetery.

Today was Ansela’s birthday.

It was also the anniversary of her death.

Three years ago, that morning, Ansela had woken up for kindergarten and kissed Giovanna and Vittorio on the cheek.

“When I come home, I want cake made by Mommy and Daddy.”

At that time, Giovanna and Vittorio had already been fighting because of Serena.

Serena stood beside him, her tone smug.

“Don’t worry. She’s already dead. How could she compete with you?”

“It was worth contacting Vittorio’s enemies and planning that kidnapping three years ago. Now Vittorio has only one child. Cosa Nostra will be ours sooner or later.”

As she spoke, the photo had already been ruined.

The little girl in the photo, once smiling so brightly, seemed to lose her old radiance and grow sad.

Something roared in Giovanna’s ears.

Out of control, she rushed over and shoved them away.

The boy fell to the ground and burst into tears.

“What are you doing?”

A man’s cold voice came from behind her.

Giovanna did not turn back.

“Signora Padrona, I can understand if you hate me, but why hurt Dario? He’s innocent.”

Vittorio rushed over and grabbed Giovanna’s hand tightly.

“Have you lost your mind? You’re attacking a child?”

“I won’t just attack him. I’ll kill Serena too.” Giovanna’s eyes were bloodshot as she shouted out of control. “They’re the murderers. I want them both buried with Ansela.”

A crisp sound rang out.

The force of the slap turned Giovanna’s face to the side.

Her ears buzzed, a red palm print rose on her face, and the corner of her mouth split, blood slowly trickling down.

Vittorio looked at his own hand, helplessness flashing in his eyes.

He seemed unable to believe he had actually hit her.

“If you love Serena that much, if you love Serena’s son that much, why won’t you divorce me and let me go?”

The word divorce seemed to trigger Vittorio.
