I Dumped Him 500 Times Online Then I Met Him at My Brother’s Birthday Chapter 07

I blinked, wondering why he was there.

Lucas was already striding toward me.

The moment he saw the blood on my knee, his eyes widened.

He reached down and helped me onto a stone bench.

“What happened?”

“Who did this?”

I let out a shaky breath, too frazzled to care how pathetic I looked.

“Can you help me get to the campus clinic? I need to clean this up.”

Lucas’s brow furrowed.

For a moment, he seemed to hesitate.

Then he spotted someone nearby and raised a hand.

“Ethan! Perfect timing. Your sister is hurt.”

A curse rang out from farther up the path.

Ethan had been walking toward us at a relaxed pace, but the second he heard Lucas, he sprinted

over.

The moment I saw my brother’s worried face, the floodgates opened.

Tears streamed down my cheeks.

Ethan looked like his heart had cracked in half.

“What happened?”

He crouched in front of me.

“How did you hurt your knee?”

Then he hoisted me onto his back and shot Lucas a glare.

“You got here first. Why didn’t you carry her?”

“What is wrong with you?”

The air went still.

Lucas let out a dry laugh.

“Her leg isn’t broken, and you were already coming over.”

He shrugged.

“I didn’t think carrying another woman around was appropriate when I have a girlfriend.”

Something inside me snapped.

Without thinking, I grabbed the water bottle from Ethan’s pocket and hurled it at Lucas.

It didn’t hit him.

He caught it cleanly.

Looking at me, he let out an exasperated sigh.

“Hey. Are you really holding a grudge?”

“I said the wrong thing. Don’t cry, okay?”

That only made it worse.

I sniffled and cried harder.

Ethan took one look at my leg and stopped wasting time.

Muttering curses under his breath, he carried me toward the campus clinic.

The whole thing was ridiculous and heartbreaking at the same time.

At the clinic, Ethan crouched in front of me and stared at my freshly bandaged knee.

“You still haven’t told me what happened.”

I looked away and stayed silent.

When he saw my red-rimmed eyes, he finally gave in.

“Alright. You don’t have to talk about it yet.”

“I’ll go get us something to eat.”

I nodded.

A moment later, my phone buzzed repeatedly inside my pocket.

I opened it.

Lucas.

“Babe, I need to tell you something, but don’t get mad.”

“After the game, we were supposed to get dinner, but Ethan’s sister hurt her leg.”

“You remember Ethan. I told you about him.”

“I thought about carrying her to the clinic, but I stopped because of you.”

“I know you weren’t there, but I still didn’t want to get physically close to another woman.”

“If I can’t even keep that boundary, what kind of boyfriend am I?”

“But honestly, I feel guilty.”

“Was that too cold?”

“Do you think I should text Ethan and ask how she’s doing?”

Each message landed like a weight against my chest.

The contrast between how cold he had been in person and how sweet he was online made my

stomach churn.

I had had enough.

“Whatever. We’re done.”

I sent the message, blocked him before he could reply, and turned off my phone.
