I Dragged Him To The Exam And He Destroyed My Future For Her Chapter 04

When the first exam ended, I walked out of the testing center and turned my phone back on.

The class group chat had over ninety-nine unread messages.

I didn’t open the group. I checked Lily’s private messages first.

[Megan, we were late.]

[We were late by more than fifteen minutes. A lot of us couldn’t get in.]

[Chad said there’d be another chance, but the proctor said no, late is late.]

[I got in, but I was fifteen minutes late. I barely finished half the questions…]

I opened the group chat and scrolled to the newest messages.

Chad had posted a long message: [Everyone, don’t panic. I already contacted Principal Hughes. The school is looking into it. We were late as a group. The responsibility isn’t ours, it’s the traffic. Focus on regrouping for the afternoon sections.]

Someone cursed him out. [Chad, you have the nerve to say that? If you hadn’t made everyone wait for Skylar, we’d have been there hours ago!]

[Exactly! The bus was supposed to leave at 7:00!]

[I couldn’t even take the first exam. Are you going to pay me back for that?]

Chad replied slowly: [Nobody objected when I asked everyone to wait.
You all agreed to it. And nobody predicted the traffic.]

[If you hadn’t made us wait for Skylar, we’d have left at 8:00. Leaving at 8:00 meant no traffic!]

[Megan left at 8:10 and didn’t hit traffic!]

Skylar sent a voice message, her voice tearful. “I’m so sorry, everyone. It’s all my fault. I didn’t mean to be late… I really didn’t.”

Chad immediately jumped in. “This isn’t Skylar’s fault. She didn’t mean to be late. Blame the traffic. Blame bad luck.”

[Hilarious.] That was Hunter.

I exited the chat and put my phone back in my pocket.

One more exam in the afternoon. I didn’t need this mess in my head.

Outside the testing center, I found a shaded spot to sit, pulled out my notes for the afternoon section, and flipped through them.

My phone buzzed with a private message from Chad.

[Megan, are you happy now?]

[Did you know about the traffic and not tell us on purpose? Is this revenge because I made everyone wait for Skylar? You’re such a horrible person.]

Before I could finish reading, he sent another. [Don’t think breaking up with me is the end of this. It’s not over.]

I turned my phone off.

At two in the afternoon, the second exam began.

The memories of my last life gave me a massive advantage, so the questions weren’t difficult for me.

When the second exam ended, it was already getting dark outside.

I stood at the testing center gate and saw Lily.

Her eyes were red. She’d clearly been crying.

“Megan.” She walked over, voice hoarse.

“How’d it go?” I patted her shoulder.

“I was fifteen minutes late for the first exam. I didn’t even have time to finish the essay question.” She sniffled. “My score’s definitely going to be terrible.”

I was quiet for a moment. “What about the afternoon?”

“The afternoon was okay, but my confidence was already shot. I second-guessed myself on questions I knew how to do.”

She looked at me, eyes welling up again. “Megan, you were right. We should have gotten off and run.”

I looked at her, not sure what to say. “Where’s Chad?”

“Chad?” Lily laughed bitterly. “He left with Skylar. He didn’t get to take the first exam either, but he doesn’t seem to care. He’s been comforting Skylar the whole time.”

I nodded.

“Megan, do you really think… the school will let us make it up?”

I looked into her eyes, which were full of resentment and desperate hope.

“No,” I said.

Lily’s face went pale.

“The SAT doesn’t do make-ups. Late is late. Missed is missed. Chad lied to you.”

She stood there, trembling. “What do we do?”

I looked at her, feeling a flicker of pity. “Get your head straight. You were fifteen minutes late. You lost some points, but you still took the exam. Focus on doing well on the rest.”

She nodded, tears spilling over.

I patted her shoulder again and told her to go home and rest.

I took a deep breath and turned off all message notifications.

Two more exams tomorrow.

My fight is with the test, not this drama.

“Chad, go ahead and keep lying. This time, nobody’s coming to save any of you.”
