I Canceled My Wedding and Married Someone Else Chapter 06

Josh’s mind went blank, an endless, buzzing void. He looked diminished, the sharp edges of his

rogance blunted by a growing, frantic desperation.

Watching him unravel twisted something deep in my chest, and I dug my nails into my palm to force back the sting in my eyes.

“Do you want to know how I found out?” I asked quietly.

I stared into my coffee, forcing my voice to remain steady.

“When you came to the hospital that night, you didn’t clean up. There was a red mark on your jaw

Later, I found a tie at Tiffany’s place, the exact same one you own.”

I exhaled. “And at the wedding… the way you rushed to her side… that’s when everything clicked.”

Josh’s face twisted, but he quickly raised two fingers as if swearing in court.

“Sierra, I swear, nothing happened that night. I ran into her at a bar. Some guy was harassing her,

so I took her home.”

“I was drunk, okay? I just passed out under the blanket. That mark–you know how clumsy I get. And the tie? I don’t know why it ended up with her!”

I took a slow sip of my coffee. The cold bitterness steadied me, cooling the anger that had been

boiling for months.

“The truth doesn’t matter anymore. Josh… back then, I was pregnant.”

He jerked his head up, eyes wide, shock, disbelief, something like hope all flickering at once. But

before he could speak, I finished.

“The baby didn’t make it. Or rather, you didn’t let it stay.”

Josh’s entire body flinched. A violent, stabbing pain tore through his skull, and he clenched his

teeth hard enough to crack them.

“Three months ago,” I continued, voice hollow, “I wasn’t the only one calling you for help. Our

baby was calling, too.”

“But when you finally picked up the phone, all I heard was Tiffany’s voice… and you rushing to hang

up on me.”

“It was Carl who found me. He saw my car by the roadside and dragged me into his car and drove me to the hospital.”

Josh’s breathing grew ragged. “You told me you just hit the curb. How… how could it be that serious?”

vision blurred. “Maybe it was a warning from the baby. Otherwise, why would I call you in the middle of the night? And how could a minor collision turn into a miscarriage?”

“But I was stupid. Too trusting. I still went ahead and planned our wedding. The auction fiasco at the ceremony… that was the last straw. Even without Carl, I still wouldn’t have married you.”

A tear slipped down my cheek before I could stop it. It splashed onto my hand. I wiped it away

immediately, but more came. Endless, relentless.

“When the doctor pushed cold instruments into my body and scraped away every last trace of my

child,” I whispered, “I hated you. And I hated myself.”

“Josh, I’m tired. I won’t love you anymore.”

Josh lurched forward and dropped to his knees in front of me. His voice trembled with suppressed

sobs.

“I was wrong! I know I was wrong! Sierra, I shouldn’t have let Tiffany get close to me! I shouldn’t

have gotten drunk!”

“I shouldn’t have bid for her at the wedding! I swear I’ll never do anything ambiguous again. I don’t

want to break up!”

The café door opened.

Carl had been standing outside for a long time. He stepped in, reached for my hand, and gently pulled me up from my seat, shielding me with his body as he led me out.

Behind us, Josh collapsed into a sound like something dying, raw and ugly, echoed in the sterile café. “I’m sorry! I’m so sorry!”

Later, after Carl withdrew every Lopez–related project and severed all ties, Josh’s parents finally woke up to the disaster. They sent him overseas.

Life briefly returned to calm, until someone disturbed it again. In the company’s reception room, Tiffany stood before me in a loose dress. Her complexion was pale, her expression haggard.

“What do you want?” I asked coldly.

Tiffany bit her lip. The words stuck in her throat as bitterness coated her voice. She looked at me as if begging for mercy.

“Sierra… can you let Josh come back?”

I leaned back in my chair and let out a low, humorless laugh. “Me? You’ve got the wrong person.

Why would I help a cheating bastard and an ungrateful homewrecker?”

ffany closed her eyes. Then, with clear resolve, she forced the words out.

“I’m pregnant,” she whispered. “It’s Josh’s.”
