I Called the Don My Future Brother-in-Law. He Called Me His Chapter 13

So I started paying attention to Rafe.

I deliberately got close to him.

After Celeste caught me deliberately trying to get close to him again and again, her people dragged

me into the restroom once more.

But this time was different.

Rafe happened to be coming downstairs, and he saw it.

For the first time, he rushed over and pulled me into his arms to protect me.

No one noticed that the corners of my mouth, hidden behind my hair, were lifting.

But when I looked up at Rafe, my eyes were already full of tears,

I looked up.

Tears fell.

Everything happened at exactly the right moment.

After that day, Celeste no longer dared to bully me openly.

Rafe had warned them to stay away from me.

See how ironic that was?

Celeste wanted me to stay away from Rafe.

Rafe wanted her to stay away from me.

With Rafe protecting me, they no longer dared to touch me at school.

The only exception was that one time off campus.

Celeste found a few thugs and had them take me away.

That time, Rafe arrived just in time to save me. The scar on the cartilage of his ear was left from that

incident.

The moment I walked out of the SAT testing center, I let out a long breath.

I was the first one out.

After waiting for a long time, I finally saw Celeste in the crowd.

The people who had bullied me back then were still with her.

She saw me too.

While she was looking around for Rafe, I had already walked calmly up to her, grabbed her by the

hair, and shoved her to the ground.

I climbed on top of Celeste and hit her like a madwoman. I bit her too.

I wanted to tear her apart right there in front of everyone.

I was the kind of person who held grudges.

I had never forgotten any of the pain she had inflicted on me for no reason.

I had been waiting for that day every second.

I had been waiting for the chains that bound me to finally fall away so I could return everything to

her with my own hands.

She had once forced me to drink dirty water.

So I shoved the thing I had prepared into her mouth.

She had once cut off my hair.

So I smeared glue all over her head and let her taste what it felt like to have her head shaved against

her will.

“Sera, are you insane?”

Rafe was the first to rush over and stop me.

It took him a great deal of effort to pull me away.

I looked at Celeste’s miserable state and smiled in satisfaction.

Only Rafe was still holding me tightly, as if he were afraid I would rush forward again and do something irreversible.

For the first time, he spoke to me harshly.

He demanded that I apologize to Celeste.

“Apologize?”

“Rafe, who do you think you are?”

“Why should I listen to you?”

For those three years, Rafe had cared about me even more than I cared about myself.

It would be a lie to say I had never felt anything for him.

But that tiny bit of tenderness disappeared completely in that moment.

He knew Celeste had bullied me.

Yet he still protected her and demanded that I apologize to her.

Someone in the crowd called the police.

Before I was put into the police cruiser, my mother came rushing over out of nowhere.

She kept apologizing to everyone. In front of the reporters interviewing students after the exam, she said my mental state was unstable and even produced a psychiatric evaluation.

Rafe reached the police station even before my mother did.

He asked me why I had done it.

I had already graduated.

To me, Rafe was no longer useful.

So I could not even be bothered to placate him.

In the end, he kept hounding me and caused such a scene at the station that it almost felt like he was

going to tear the whole building down. Only then did I finally have to speak.

“Rafe, aside from that pretty face of yours, you’re good for nothing.”

“Did you really think I liked you?”

“The truth is, in my eyes, you’re no different from Celeste.”

“You’re both disgusting.”
