I Called Myself Ten Years Later—and Exposed My Cheating Boyfriend Chapter 06

Word got around that Julian had filed a score challenge with the College Board. They checked. The results were accurate. No tampering.

He was already planning to enroll in community college next fall. He hadn’t even bothered looking

at other options.

I wanted to say hi to his parents, but I was afraid it’d come off like I was rubbing it in. So I kept my

mouth shut and kept walking.

But Julian caught my wrist as I passed him. “Chloe, we need to talk.”

Both sets of parents were watching, so I didn’t make a scene. He pulled me over to the big tree at the

edge of the courtyard.

My parents hung back and waved. “We’ll be right here, sweetie.”

Julian’s expression was hard to read. “Audrey bombed, too. Even worse than me.”

“Really? Sounds like you two are a perfect match, then.”

“Go to community college together, flunk into the same school together, get married, have kids. A

real love story.”

“Are you saying this just to piss me off?” He was loud enough that my parents looked over.

He caught himself and lowered his voice. “You knew this would happen, didn’t you? You set this

up.”

I blinked at him. “Set what up? I didn’t take your test for you. Did I break into the testing room and

hold your hand down?”

“Honestly, I figured you two planned it. Matching scores

that’s cute.”

I kept my voice sweet. “But it’s fine. You can always transfer next year.”

Julian snapped. “You’re still playing dumb? You swapped our pens for disappearing ink! How else do you explain our scores? You’re trying to destroy our futures! What the hell happened to you?”

The smile fell off my face.

“Funny. So you do know what happens when someone writes an exam in disappearing ink.”

“Then why’d you give them to me?”

“I still don’t know what I ever did to you.”

He froze, then denied it. “I didn’t! The store must’ve mixed them up!”

“Julian, who are you kidding?”

“Yours worked fine. Audrey’s worked fine. And mine were the only ‘mistake‘?”

He had nothing. “You… you knew the whole time.”

I didn’t blink. “Where do you think the pens in your pencil case came from? I gave them back to you

Both of you.”

Julian panicked. He grabbed my shoulders, ducking down to force me to look at him.

“Chloe, just let me explain. I had no choice.”

“Audrey’s parents told her if she didn’t finish top of the class, they’d cut her off. No college tuition.”

“She’s basically under house arrest right now. Her parents took her phone, everything. Because she

bombed.”

“She’s your best friend.”

“If you’d known what was going on, you would’ve done the same thing I did.”

I pulled out of his grip, face blank.

“I don’t keep friends who team up with my boyfriend to stab me in the back.”

“And if Audrey wanted to be valedictorian, how does screwing me over help?”

“There were dozens of people ahead of her. Why didn’t you sabotage all of them?”

“You did it because I was the easy target. The one who’d never suspect you.”

“I wasn’t trying to keep you out of college!” Julian’s voice cracked.

“I switched your pens back after the first day of testing. As soon as it was over.‘

knocked your score down, but you still could’ve gotten into a good school. Just

I’d known all of it already. But hearing him say it out loud, hearing him –something in my chest clenched so tight I couldn’t breathe.

“You knew how hard I worked for Bramford. You knew that was everything to me.”

“What gave you the right to throw that away for her?”

“You picked her a long time ago. So whatever happens to you two from here on out

I’m done.

“Stay the hell away from me.
