His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 12

His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 12

Lily paced nervously outside the entrance, lacking the courage to step inside the grand estate. Even though she had been by Jonathan’s side for three long years, he had never allowed her to cross this direshold. He had always maintained that this mansion belonged exclusively to him and Valerie, forbidding anyone else from entering.

Now that Valerie had divorced him, and since it was her own birthday, she wondered if he would finally make an exception for her.

“Miss Foster, the master wants you inside,” the assistant said, holding the door open.

Lily felt a surge of validation. “Really?” She clutched the plate of cake tightly and walked into the house with a bright smile.

However, Jonathan’s expression was grim, and he made no move to greet her. The suffocating, dominant aura radiating from him caused her heart to skip a beat in panic.

“Jonathan, I was sad when you left before tasting my birthday cake, so I saved a special piece just

for you.”

Her eyes drifted to the floor, noticing the torn pieces of a red document. Did Jonathan and Valerie truly get a divorce? If so, why did he look so devastated that he ripped the decree to shreds? If they were divorced, would he finally marry her? Her mind spun with unanswered questions.

“Locking the gates… that was your idea, wasn’t it?”

Jonathan’s cold voice cut through her thoughts, causing the plate to slip from her fingers and shatter on the floor, ruining the cake. She hadn’t expected him to uncover the truth so quickly.

Seeing the sheer panic written all over her face, Jonathan had his answer. He couldn’t reconcile this with the sweet, innocent woman he thought he knew-the one who had shed tears and begged him to show mercy to Summer in the hospital ward. Yet behind his back, she had bribed his security detail to orchestrate a slaughter.

“Why did you do it! Why!”

“I…” Lily bit her trembling lip, tears flowing down her face instantly. “I didn’t mean to! It was a momentary lapse of judgment, I swear!”

“I’m so sorry, Jonathan! I had no idea things would get that horrific. Believe me, I never wanted Miss Shaw or Mrs. James to be mutilated! I only wanted to give them a scare!”

“Get up. We’re going to the hospital,” Jonathan said, rising from the sofa without offering her a glance. “You are going to apologize to Summer.”

Apologize?” Lily gasped, paralyzed with fear. “No, I can’t go! If I go there, they’ll destroy me!” fell to the floor, grabbing at his pants as she wept hysterically.

What if they call the police? Jonathan, if law enforcement gets involved, I’ll go to prison! Our sweet Silas is still so small, he can’t grow up without a mother!”

Jonathan froze, a wave of hesitation washing over him. It was true that Silas needed his mother, but

Valeție Summer was Valerie’s absolute closest friend. If Lily didn’t secure Summer’s forgiveness, Valerie would despise him for the rest of his days.

“Jonathan, I swear I didn’t mean for this to happen! I’ll never do anything like this again! For the sake of our family, please don’t force me to go to the hospital!”

As Jonathan stood locked in indecision, the housekeeper escorted two police detectives into the

room.

“Are we speaking to Jonathan James and Lily Foster?”

“I am Jonathan James,” he responded, his tone flat and unreadable. “Can I help you, officers?”

“We have received a formal complaint alleging kidnapping, aggravated assault, and criminal negligence resulting in the severe mutilation of Summer Shaw. We need both of you to come down to the station immediately.”

“No!” Lily collapsed onto the floor, her face masked in pure terror. “Who reported this? Was it Summer? I can go to the hospital and explain! This wasn’t my fault-it was Jonathan’s idea! He was the one who ordered Summer to be locked in the facility in the first place! I didn’t know anything!”

Staring down at her hysterical accusations, a cynical, mocking smile touched Jonathan’s lips. This was the pathetic reality of the woman he had pampered and protected for three years.

“Mr. James, please step forward,” the detective insisted.

Jonathan offered no resistance. “I’ll cooperate. But I want to know who filed the charges.”

“It was Miss Vance, your former wife.”
