His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 01

His Son, Her Photo, My Turn Chapter 01

A car crash left Valerie Vance in a coma for three years.

When she finally woke up, everyone said she had changed.

Valerie, who used to constantly cling to Jonathan James, could now go days without reaching out to him even once.

Even when she learned he was sick and hospitalized, she merely ordered some chicken soup to be sent over.

She never questioned his late nights, and when rumors spread that he had another woman, she didn’t care.

That changed on the night she was at a lounge watching male dancers, and her best friend sent her a photo.

In a magnificent banquet hall, Jonathan stood by the entrance welcoming guests, his arm wrapped around a woman as he held a baby.

Above them, a digital banner flashed: “Celebrating the Arrival of Baby Silas James—A Blessed Addition to the Family.”

Her best friend leaned in curiously. “Everyone says you don’t care about Jonathan anymore, but I don’t believe it. He and that stand-in even have a child together now. Can you really not care?”

Valerie arched an eyebrow, casually slipped a few bills into the dancer’s waistband, and stood up from the sofa.

“Why wouldn’t I care? My husband is celebrating a new arrival. As his legal wife, I ought to pay them a visit.”

When her best friend rushed to the venue with Valerie, the noisy hall instantly fell silent. Everyone feared Valerie would fly into a rage and harm the innocent.

After all, everyone knew how explosive Valerie’s temper could be.

As the heiress of the Vance family, pampered since childhood, she was arrogant, obstinate, and completely unyielding.

Anything she disapproved of would inevitably turn into a massive public scandal.

Seeing her arrive, Jonathan frowned.

“Valerie, are you tracking me? Didn’t you say you didn’t care about me anymore? Why did you sneak over here? I already explained to you about Lily—”

“I know. I was in a coma for three years,” Valerie interrupted, a faint smile touching her lips. “During those three years, you fell in love with my stand-in, Lily Foster, and had a child with her.”

“You wanted her to abort it, but you didn’t expect her to run away from the hospital and secretly give birth. Now that the child is here, you can’t just abandon it, so you threw this Welcome Baby Celebration. I know all about it.”

Her tone was calm, completely devoid of anger or grievance.

Yet Lily trembled with fear, sinking to the floor before Valerie while clutching the infant.

“I’m so sorry, Mrs. James. I really didn’t mean to. I just couldn’t bear to harm a little life. I have religious beliefs, I couldn’t abort this child. Please forgive me!”

Valerie ignored her, reaching out to touch the baby’s cheek.

But the moment her hand moved close, Jonathan violently yanked her away.

“What do you think you’re doing? This is my child! He’s innocent. If you have a problem, take it out on me.”

Mr. and Mrs. James couldn’t help but chime in, “Yes, Valerie, this was all an accident. Who knew when you would ever wake up? Our family needed an heir!”

“The child’s birth won’t affect your status. You will always be Mrs. James.”

Valerie laughed. “Look at you all, why so tense? Did I say I was going to do anything to the baby?”

She pulled an elegant cash envelope and a designer silver baby rattle from her bag, placing them into the baby’s swaddle.

“Grow up healthy and safe, sweet baby.”

Her actions left everyone frozen in place.

Jonathan knit his brows. “You’re not angry?”

“I’m not angry,” Valerie said with a smile. “Ms. Foster bore a child for our family. That’s a good thing, so why should I be angry? Anyway, I won’t disrupt you. Carry on, don’t let me ruin the fun.”

Valerie walked out of the banquet hall.

The late spring breeze still carried a biting chill.

Valerie walked briskly, with her best friend Summer Shaw chasing after her in three-inch heels.

Seeing Valerie get into a roadside Rolls-Royce, Summer slid into the seat beside her.

The first thing Summer did upon entering the car was touch Valerie’s forehead.

“Your temperature is normal. You don’t have a fever!”

“Valerie, what on earth is wrong with you? Why do you seem like a completely different person after that car crash? Your husband has a child with another woman, and you have no reaction? That’s your husband, Jonathan! The man you loved for ten years! If this were before, you would have rushed up and slapped that woman across the face!”

Valerie brushed her hand away, her red lips curving into a smile.

“You said it yourself—that was before. The old Valerie Vance died in that car crash three years ago.”

Nobody knew that during her three-year coma, Valerie had entered a parallel timeline.

In that alternate reality, she had lived with Jonathan for thirty years.

In that world, Jonathan really did cheat on her with Lily and had a child with her.

When Valerie discovered the truth, she went mad, smashing every decoration in the banquet hall, slapping Lily repeatedly, and weeping as she demanded Jonathan send the mother and son away.

Jonathan refused, so she used every means at her disposal to drive them out.

But her actions only brought Jonathan’s retaliation. He used his immense influence to systematically crush the Vance family.

Ultimately, the Vance family went bankrupt, and her parents committed suicide, unable to bear the blow.

As for Valerie, she was tortured beyond recognition before throwing herself from a building.

When she opened her eyes again, she found herself back in the real world.

She had initially thought everything during her coma was just a nightmare, until she saw Jonathan actually fooling around with that stand-in. Only then did she completely wake up.

God had given her a chance to start over, and she intended to seize it.

Since Jonathan was trash, she would simply discard him like garbage.

Besides, a woman like Valerie Vance would never lack suitors.

She pulled out her phone and sent a text message to the man who had buried her corpse in that parallel world.

[I will be divorcing Jonathan in seven days. Are you interested in filing a marriage license with me then?]
