His Memory Reset To Love, My Heart Stuck At Goodbye Chapter 05

A month after my discharge, I returned home to pack my 

things. 

Selina and Liam happened to be back as well. 

They didn’t notice me. 

Liam was cheerfully holding Selina’s hand, talking about the 

surprises Alexander had prepared for them. 

I paused. 

Since the surgery, the man I had waited for had not 

appeared once. 

There was no sadness, no resentment, only a serene calm. 

Liam puffed out his little chest, refusing to be outdone. 

“Hmph, I have a surprise for you too, Selina.” 

“Mom said birthday wishes are the most powerful,” he winked playfully. 

“So, my wish today is…” 

He paused for dramatic effect, voice sweet and clear, “I wish 

my mommy weren’t here, so you could be mine instead.” 

A pin I’d left on the clothes pricked my finger unexpectedly. 

I stared at the spreading dark red stain. I couldn’t help 

feeling a twinge of nostalgia. 

This must be the Santa costume I stayed up three nights 

making for his fourth birthday. 

And his little outfit had been a tiny reindeer. 

He had hugged my leg, giggling, saying he wanted to follow 

me forever, like Santa’s reindeer. 

The noise downstairs faded. 

I smiled faintly and tossed the blood–stained shirt into the trash. 

I didn’t know who he got it from, but everyone talks about ‘forever,‘ yet few can truly keep such a promise. 

But since this was the last time, I decided to grant their wish one last time. 

Dragging my suitcase, I gently closed the door. 

The lighter clicked, and the birthday candles flickered to life. 

Alexander’s hand recoiled too slowly and got singed. 

Selina immediately stepped forward to shield it, but he subtly moved away, trying to shake off the unease he felt. 

When Liam blew out the candles, Alexander finally stood in front of the guests and media with a small, bittersweet smile. 

“Everyone, there have been some misunderstandings about my personal life recently,” he began. 

“So, on this occasion, I’d like to formally introduce my wife.” 

Selina, dressed elegantly, smiled brightly. 

But before she could step forward, an assistant’s voice 

interrupted, “Mr. Alexander, the gown prepared for your wife has been returned!” 

A stir ran through the room. 

[What? Isn’t Alexander’s wife Miss White? She’s already dressed, why send another gown?] 

(I think his wife isn’t Selina.] 

[Did you forget the recent ‘real vs. fake wife‘ news?] 

The reminder hit everyone. Eyes roamed over Selina’s 

blushing face as if she were a spectacle. 

Cameras flashed nonstop. But Alexander barely noticed. 

His gaze was fixed on the blue gown in the assistant’s hands. 

It was her favorite color. 

His voice was rough, “Is she still angry?” 

Three days after surgery, Alexander was already conscious. 

The memories surged, not violently, yet oppressively, making 

it hard to breathe.
