Wineglasses clinked throughout the family banquet as guests moved through the crowd.

Nearly everyone there was a politician, businessman, or Family associate with business ties to the Moretti Family.

Ava arrived last.

Matteo wore a sharply tailored custom suit that emphasized his broad shoulders and long legs.

She watched coldly as he held Luca’s hand, surrounded by praise.

“As expected of the Underboss’s son. He was born to inherit the Moretti Family.”

“He’s already so composed at such a young age. He already carries himself like the Underboss.”

The moment Matteo saw her, he walked over with a smile.

“Ava, you came after all.”

Ava gave a cold laugh.

Until her Australian residency application was approved, she didn’t want Matteo causing trouble for her.

Seeing her distant expression, Matteo lowered his voice.

“Luca will be your son from now on, too. He’ll respect you and take care of you.”

Then he led Luca to the center of the stage and announced into the microphone that Luca was the Moretti Family’s only Blood Heir.

Thunderous applause erupted below the stage.

At some point, Mia appeared beside Ava.

She wore a designer gown, and the jewels on her necklace and rings glittered so brightly they were almost blinding.

She laughed softly.

“Matteo really does value my Luca. He’s still so young, and Matteo’s already naming him the next Don…”

Ava glanced at her and sneered.

“Your Luca? Matteo was begging me yesterday to become your son’s mother…”

“Because you’ll never be allowed into the Family’s inner circle, right?”

Mia’s smile froze.

Her fingers trembled with rage.

Just then, Luca came down carrying a glass of champagne and held it out to Ava.

Everyone was watching.

Ava looked up at Matteo onstage and saw the warning in his eyes.

With a cold smile, she accepted the glass, tipped her head back, and drank.

Once she had done what was expected of her, Ava prepared to leave early.

But her body suddenly grew hot.

The room spun around her, and her mind began to blur.

She immediately realized there had been something in the champagne.

Ava staggered to her feet, but someone covered her mouth in a corner and dragged her away.

She was locked inside a room.

Several men entered soon after and looked her over from head to toe.

Ava bit the tip of her tongue until it bled, barely managing to stay conscious.

“What… do you want?”

The men didn’t answer.

One of them reached out and tore at her clothes.

Ava’s eyes widened in terror.

She fought desperately, but she couldn’t break free.

Voices and footsteps grew louder outside the door.

Mia said with a laugh, “Matteo, I thought I saw Luca come this way. He probably got lost because he still doesn’t know the house very well.”

The next second, the door opened from the outside.

A man had Ava pinned tightly against his chest.

Her eyes were red as she looked at Matteo, who stood at the front of the group, silently begging him to save her.

Matteo stopped.

His expression darkened instantly, and his knuckles cracked as he clenched his fists.

“Ava Collins, is this your newest way of getting revenge on me?”

The plea vanished from Ava’s eyes.

Her entire body went rigid.

Mia pretended to be shocked, but she made no effort to hide the triumph in her eyes.

“My God, Ms. Collins is certainly bold. Doing this here with so many men…”

She deliberately trailed off, smiling as she humiliated Ava.

Matteo flew into a rage.

He strode forward, kicked away the man holding Ava, then hauled her to her feet and dragged her outside the villa.

He threw her onto the gravel path like a piece of trash.

“Since you have no shame, you can kneel here until the banquet ends!”

The drug was still coursing through Ava’s body.

She was too weak to resist as she was forced to the ground.

Her knees slammed into the freezing gravel, and her body jerked from the pain.

Her torn clothes barely covered her.

Purple finger marks covered her pale skin, and she could hardly move.

Every guest stared at Ava with contempt.

No matter how tightly she curled into herself, she couldn’t cover her body.
