His Captive Obsession Chapter 08

His Captive Obsession Chapter 08

Mom walked ahead, practically forced up the stairs by the guards.

The security team blocked the staircase, preventing Ashton and me from following.

The night felt oppressive.

Ashton and I were frantic, and just as we were about to call the police, a luxury car pulled up outside the glass doors.

Daddy and my grandmother stepped out.

I wriggled out of Ashton’s arms, sprinted to the entrance, and bit Daddy’s hand as hard as I could.

He lifted me up by my collar, leaving my legs dangling in the air as I glared at him.

His eyes were exhausted and slightly unfocused as he squinted at me.

“Do you even know who I am, kid? You’ve got guts.”

“Didn’t you see the news? I ruin people.”

Other kids would have been terrified, but not me.

The Zoe who used to adore her dad was gone. I was entirely on Team Mom now.

“Your fiancée is bullying my mom upstairs! Aren’t you going to do something?”

“What?”

He tilted his head slightly, trying to process my words, looking intensely focused.

Grandmother spoke up, “I let Victoria use the space. She’s your fiancée and will be living here eventually anyway. Today is Harper’s birthday—even if she’s adopted, she’s practically your daughter. There’s no harm in using the estate.”

Daddy let out a cold, mocking laugh.

“Mother, how much longer do you plan on micro-managing my life?”

She blinked, maintaining her elegant posture. “Whether you have your memory or not, you are my most precious, obedient son. Are you blaming me?”

“No,” he said, rubbing his temples. “I just can’t remember.”

He looked back at me. “What happened to your mother? Why is she here?”

As he spoke, tears finally spilled over my cheeks, and I started sobbing uncontrollably.

Ashton stepped forward responsibly and explained the whole situation.

I tugged on Daddy’s sleeve, pointing up the stairs. “They dragged Mom up there.”

Daddy immediately marched toward the staircase, ordering the guards, “Get out of my way.”

We followed right behind him.

The doors to the banquet hall on the east side of the second floor were firmly shut.

Ashton tried the handle. “It’s locked from the inside.”

Daddy patted my back gently. “Don’t worry.”

Without a shred of hesitation, he kicked the heavy doors wide open.

Grandmother tried to reach out to stop him, but she hesitated and pulled her hand back, settling for throwing a harsh glare at me instead.

I was just a kid; what could I do? I glared right back.

Muffled cries and screams echoed from inside the room.

I remembered seeing reports online that Victoria had a history of viciously bullying people back in school.

Women like her were terrifying.

I ran to the doorway, banging my hands against the frame. “Mom!”

Within seconds, the tension broke.

Mom walked out looking incredibly disheveled, a bright red slap mark blooming on her cheek and her hair completely messed up.

“Mom!” I threw myself into her arms. “Does it hurt?”

Beside us, Daddy suddenly let out a sharp, sharp intake of breath.

“Your daughter is beautiful, she looks just like… I mean, are you alright? I can call the police for you.”

Mom shook her head. “No need. Thank you for your time, Mr. Vance.
We’ll be leaving now.”

“How do you know my last name? What a coincidence.”

Ashton snapped furiously, “Valerie, we can’t just let this go!”

He stormed into the banquet hall and emerged a few seconds later,
his anger completely replaced by shock.

“Valerie, let’s get out of here.”

Confused, I took a few steps forward and peeked inside.

The wealthy parents who had been insulting us were all groaning on
the floor, barely able to make a sound.

I immediately turned around. “Mom, let’s go home.”

The three of us hurried down the stairs in unison.

But after just a few steps, Daddy’s voice cut through the air, wrapping
around us like a cold breeze.

“Miss, you’ve left my fiancée in absolute ruins. I’m deeply hurt by this,
so I’m afraid you can’t leave just yet.”
