His Camera Loved My Best Friend Chapter 12

His Camera Loved My Best Friend Chapter 12

The topic changed too suddenly.

Julian did not react at first.

“What?”

I looked straight at him.

“After seven years together, do you know I don’t eat scallions?”

Julian went silent.

“So what if I didn’t know?”

“It’s just a small thing.”

“If I didn’t know before, I’ll pay attention in the future.”

I laughed softly.

I laughed at myself for loving someone like this.

“You always think taking photos for someone else is a small thing.”

“You think me not eating scallions is a small thing too.”

“But to me, things don’t work like that.”

I looked toward Mason not far away.

I remembered that dinner.

After Mason learned I didn’t eat scallions, he took the initiative to remind the server.

“You call it a small thing.”

“Then why could a stranger who just met me do it, while you, my boyfriend, never could?”

In seven years, Julian had never cared about it once.

Because Julian didn’t care.

Because he thought I was being dramatic.

But I had told him before.

I didn’t eat scallions because when the children’s home lost funding, we ate scallion flatbread for six straight months.

Until I threw up.

Then ate more after throwing up.

Because there were only four pieces of flatbread a day.

If I didn’t eat, I went hungry.

I still remembered that smell.

It could throw me back into those dark days in an instant.

But after Mason learned about my past at the children’s home, he asked me first:

“You probably don’t like scallions, right?”

Julian would never know.

My eyes reddened right then.

Only one thought stayed in my heart.

A stranger meeting me for the first time could give me care Julian never did.

Then what was the difference between us and strangers?

Hearing this, Julian’s mouth opened and closed.

He seemed to want to explain.

But he didn’t know how.

After a long time, he could only force out one sentence.

“I didn’t know.”

But the moment the words left his mouth, even he didn’t believe them.

I said nothing more.

I turned and went upstairs.

My breathing was steady.

My steps were light.

When I passed Julian, I didn’t stop.

I didn’t look back.
