His Camera Loved My Best Friend Chapter 02

His Camera Loved My Best Friend Chapter 02

I sat in bed.

There was only one thought in my head.

Wake Julian up and demand an answer.

In the end, I did nothing.

I put my phone down.

Closed my eyes.

Then opened them again and stayed awake until dawn.

I still had a business trip tomorrow.

This project was mine from start to finish, and it would decide whether I got promoted at the end of the year.

Before check-in, Julian finally couldn’t help asking:

“What’s wrong with you?”

I turned and looked at him for a long time.

Back then, I had chased him with everything I had.

At the deepest point of our relationship, he had said he loved me too.

At the end of the year, I would be able to do what I had written in my diary at eighteen.

Marry Julian West.

“If I did something wrong, you have to tell me.”

He paused, then smiled.

“We’re supposed to spend our lives together.”

Something inside me softened.

“Then take a picture of me.”

Really, as long as Julian was willing.

But he wasn’t.

At that, the concern in his eyes faded.

Annoyance replaced it.

“You know I don’t photograph people.”

I asked, “What about Vanessa?”

The moment I said it, panic flashed across Julian’s face.

“You know I’ve been photographing Vanessa?”

Vanessa.

In seven years together, Julian had never called me anything so intimate.

“We just hadn’t gotten around to telling you.”

When I heard that, I wanted to laugh.

But tears fell first.

Seven years.

Not seven hours.

Not seven days.

Seven years of my life spent in love.

My best friend and my boyfriend had silently agreed that they just hadn’t gotten around to telling me.

“Besides, Vanessa is your best friend.”

“Helping her is helping you too, isn’t it?”

I said nothing.

Three seconds later, Julian lost patience.

“Leah.”

I suddenly remembered what Vanessa had once written on her private account.

One time, she had thrown a tantrum, and Julian coaxed her for three hours.

People nearby looked over at the sound.

Then a girl cried out excitedly:

“Mr. West? Can we take a photo with you?”

Julian was cold by nature.

In the past, he had even refused to take photos with my cousin without hesitation.

Let alone now, while he was angry.

I opened my mouth to smooth things over.

Then the girl said:

“I’m a fan of Vanessa.”

The coldness on Julian’s face softened the moment he heard Vanessa’s name.

He smiled gently.

“Thank you for supporting Vanessa.”

“Sure, we can take one.”

My words froze in midair.

Cold airport wind blew in hard.

It chilled my chest.

The peace I had tried so hard to dress up finally showed its real, vicious face.

Julian wasn’t cold.

I just wasn’t Vanessa.

In Julian’s heart, I mattered less than Vanessa’s fan.

“Julian West.”

I couldn’t keep pretending anymore.

So I said it.

“Let’s break up.”

Julian laughed in anger.

“Just because I took pictures of Vanessa?”

I nodded.

“Yes.”

“Just because of that.”

After I reached the hotel, Vanessa texted me.

“Leah, did you misunderstand something?”
