His Assistant Gave the Bride Rules?! She Didn’t Know Who She Was Messing With Chapter 04

The moment her phone hit the floor, Chloe exploded.

She had just managed to win back some sympathy from the guests. One swing of my arm had destroyed it.

Her face twisted as she lunged at me and reached for my hair.

“Are you insane? What gives you the right to smash my phone?”

Then she sneered as if she had figured me out.

“I get it. You heard what Ryan said and panicked. You’re afraid you won’t get any of his money, so

now you’re throwing a tantrum. How pathetic.”

Whispers rose around us. I watched her flail and found the whole performance ridiculous.

Before her hand could touch me, I caught her wrist and slapped her across the face.

Her head snapped to the side. Finger marks bloomed on her cheek, and her carefully styled hair fell

loose.

She froze for two seconds before letting out a piercing scream, shock filling her eyes.

Any pretense of helpless innocence disappeared. She grabbed a phone from the nearest guest and

called Ryan again.

The instant he answered, she began sobbing so hard she could barely speak, embellishing every detail of what had happened.

Ryan’s furious shout burst from the speaker.

“Claire, how dare you lay a hand on Chloe?”

After finishing his tirade, he softened his voice and gently reassured Chloe.

“Don’t be afraid. I’m coming back right now. I won’t let her hurt you again.”

When the call ended, Chloe raised her face and stared at me triumphantly.

“You’re dead.”

She gave a contemptuous laugh.

“A place in the Carter family was right there for the taking, and somehow you ruined it all. What a complete failure. That door is closed for good now.”

I regarded her coolly, unwilling to waste another word on her.

A few minutes later, hurried footsteps sounded from the entrance.

Ryan’s voice carried over the crowd, sharp with irritation.

He hadn’t even entered the ballroom before he started shouting.

“Claire, how much longer are you going to keep this up? You cause one scene after another. Do you really think I won’t cancel the wedding?”

He strode through the crowd, fury etched across his face.

Then he saw me.

Confusion spread across his face.

“Who are you?”

Chloe, who had been gloating beside him, went still too.

The entire ballroom fell silent.

I looked from one stunned face to the other, a cold smile curving my lips.

“Who I am doesn’t matter. I should thank you, though. I got a front-row seat to a cheating bastard

and his shameless mistress humiliating themselves.”

Ryan’s expression darkened.

“Get Claire out here. I’m giving her one last chance to apologize to Chloe. If she refuses, there is no

reason for this wedding to continue.”

I stepped forward and answered him with a sharp slap across the face.

He stared at me in disbelief as I met his eyes.

“Don’t bother bringing Claire out here.

“This wedding is over.”

I paused, anger churning beneath my calm voice.

“And the mystery investment that was supposed to carry your company to its IPO? You can forget

about that too.”
