Her Husband Claims He Has No Function For Love Yet His Pulse Races Around Her Chapter 09

The takeout container dropped from my hands, hit the floor, 

and rolled across the ground. 

Dizziness crashed into me. 

It took real effort to shove the man off me. I nearly 

suffocated. 

Rowan’s mouth flattened. 

“I thought it was allowed.” 

“Not for that long. I need to breathe.” 

I gasped for air and shot him a glare. 

Rowan seemed to half–understand. His tone was dead 

serious, like he was discussing a scientific matter. 

“Once every five minutes? Or every two?” 

The question burned my ears red. 

But the one asking was an alien being. No human sense of shame or propriety. He just waited there, unmoved, for my 

answer. 

Once the embarrassment ebbed, all I could manage was a low mumble. “One minute…” 

The words barely left my mouth before my breath was cut off again. 

A rough, broad hand skimmed my skin and gripped the soft flesh of my waist. Like he was testing out a strange new toy. 

“Is it okay to keep going? Is it because of love? Because of love, anything is acceptable?” 

“Mm…” 

I was dazed and breathless, only giving a muddled reply. 

But Rowan, for once, let me go. He brushed my cheek gently 

and said, voice low, “What if I were an alien? Would it still be 

okay? If you were terrified, would it still be fine?” 

I laid my hand over his and smiled. “If it’s you, it’s fine.” 

The oblivious alien being shed his disguise. 

With no buffer whatsoever, a pure black, twisted mass 

appeared before me. His body seemed covered in a layer of 

scales, gleaming with a dark, slick sheen. 

Just as Rowan had said. Far more terrifying than anything in 

a sci–fi film. 

I let out a short gasp and shut my eyes on instinct. 

Something resembling a human arm touched my cheek 

again. Cool. But not as hard as I’d imagined. 

A low, rasping voice spoke. 

“Audrey. Don’t be afraid. Look at me.” 

I swallowed hard, tensed up. Took a deep breath. Still could 

only crack my eyes open the faintest bit. 

Weaker than I thought. 

But the terrifying creature was speaking the softest words. 

“I’ve studied. This body will satisfy you. So don’t be afraid of 

me, Audrey. Love me… please love me.” 

My face, which had just cooled from the fright, heated right 

back up. 

I forced myself to look at him, voice flustered. “Stop it… I 

know… I’m already getting used to it…” 

The alien being lost all shape. 

It became an indescribable mass that wrapped completely 

around me. 

I felt suffocated. Afraid. Dazed. 

White light flickered. 

And yet, a voice kept repeating in my ear, steady and 

rhythmic. 

He said, “Audrey. Please. You have to love me.” 

I understood. He was saying he loved me. 

Amid the chaos, my fear slowly ebbed away. Only the most 

primal emotion remained. 

I wrapped my arms around him and answered, “Yeah. I love 

you.”
