He Wrapped Me Up for His Crush. Now I Live in His Head. Chapter 11

A month later.

During evening study hall, someone knocked on the classroom door.

“Is Avery Collins here?”

I looked up and saw the last person I wanted to see.

Logan.

He’d lost weight. His eyes were bloodshot. When he saw me, they lit up.

“Avery!”

There was surprise and nervousness in his voice. The whole class looked over.

Zoe tugged my sleeve worriedly.

I stood up and walked out. I didn’t want my past dragged out in front of my new classmates.

“What are you doing here?”

My voice was so cold it surprised even me. Turns out I could face him this calmly now.

Logan looked hurt by my tone.

“I came to find you. How could you leave without saying anything? I’ve been looking for you for a month. Your mom finally told me you were here.”

A month?

I was a little surprised. I hadn’t expected him to look for me, let alone keep at it this long.

In my memory, he always lost interest after three minutes.

“Why are you looking for me?”

“To take you back, of course.”

He said it like it was obvious.

“It’s inconvenient for you to be here alone. Come back.”

“I forgive you.”

Forgive me?

I almost laughed. Even now he was still so self-righteous.

He thought I was the one at fault. The one who needed forgiving.

“Logan, get this straight. You’re the one who should apologize.”

“I did apologize!”

He got anxious.

“I bought you amusement park tickets. I got you your favorite gifts. What more do you want?”

I looked at him.

The guy I’d liked for over ten years now felt like a complete stranger.

He would never understand.

I didn’t want amusement park tickets. I didn’t want gifts.

I wanted respect. I wanted to be treated like a person.

Not a toy.

“I don’t want anything. I just want you to leave. Don’t come find me again.”

I turned to go.

He grabbed my arm.

“Avery! Don’t push this too far. It was just a prank!”

“Does it have to be like this?”

Prank.

Again with the prank.

In his mind, hanging me from the flagpole and humiliating me in front of everyone was just a joke.

I shook off his hand.

“Yeah, just a prank. So me leaving is also just a prank. Don’t take it seriously.”

I left him standing there stunned and walked back into the classroom without looking back.

Zoe asked worriedly.

“You okay? Who was that?”

“I’m fine.”

I smiled.

“Just someone unimportant.”

Yeah. Unimportant now.

Things that once felt world-ending now seemed small.

The person I once thought I couldn’t live without, I could now let go.
