He Wasn’t That Unconscious Chapter 07

He Wasn’t That Unconscious Chapter 07

My breath caught, but my eyes slowly lit up.

Could Felix still remember fragments of the past? Was this his way of signaling me?

Thinking back to everything we’d been through together, the answer was already on the tip of my tongue.

“It’s—”

Before I could finish, Sienna shoved me aside.

“You’ve never spent time with Felix. You don’t know him. How would you know what he likes to eat? Move. I’ll answer.”

She completely blocked me and launched into her answer. “We dated for three years. I know you better than anyone. I know exactly what you want most right now. What you want is the chicken soup I make with my own hands.”

The more she talked, the more confident she became. “Last year, when you got sick, I made it for you once. You were so touched. You said it was the best thing you’d ever tasted. You even told me that every time you got sick, you wanted to drink the chicken soup I made.”

“But you were in a deep coma, so even if you wanted it, you couldn’t tell me. I made chicken soup for you so many times and left it by your bedside so you could smell it. I hoped it would help you wake up sooner.”

“Now that you’re finally awake, I’ll go home and make it right away so you can taste how much I’ve missed you and how much I love you.”

As she spoke, she forced out a few tears.

She made sure to play to the media. “You all used to call me a gold digger. You said I only wanted Felix’s money. But this proves my love for him is real.”

The media immediately swarmed Sienna, ready to capture every word.

My parents jumped in too.

“Our daughter has always been a princess at home. She never had to lift a finger. But for Felix, she even learned how to cook, just so he’d have something she made when he woke up…”

I was stunned by their shamelessness. My lips twitched.

Off to the side, Penelope’s brows drew together. Her face tightened.

I wanted to ask her right then: Are you really sure you want your son marrying a two-faced schemer like this?

Penelope was clearly torn.

Seeing the confusion on Felix’s face, she cut off Sienna’s one-woman show.

“Enough. This isn’t the time for a scene. You’ve answered. Let Ruth answer.”

She pulled me back over and turned me toward Felix.

I spoke softly. “Blue cheese.”

The room went silent.

Then Sienna burst out laughing. “Ruth, you really are something. If you’re going to lie, at least make it believable. You’re talking nonsense.

“You must be crazy. I know Felix better than anyone. He hates strong smells. One time we walked past a specialty cheese shop, and the smell alone made him want to leave.

“There’s no way that stinky cheese is the first thing he’d want after waking up.”

Felix kept his lips pressed together and said nothing.

For a second, I almost doubted myself.

I hadn’t remembered wrong…

Felix’s spirit had clearly told me blue cheese was his favorite snack. He’d even said that whenever he smelled it, his heartbeat got stronger.

He’d whispered it in my ear countless times. Once he woke up, he was going to eat an entire wedge of blue cheese by himself.

Had I remembered it wrong?

Or had his spirit been lying to me?
