He Wasn’t Supposed To Have Kids, Then I Got Pregnant Chapter 10

When I woke up, Lucian was sitting beside the bed with our daughter in his arms.

His eyes were badly bloodshot. The moment he saw me open my eyes, he handed the baby to the nanny and bent down to pull me into his arms.

“Livia.”

My voice was barely more than a rasp.

“So I didn’t wake up in hell?”

He buried his face against the side of my neck.

“You’re alive.”

I lifted one hand and gently touched his hair.

“Where’s the baby?”

“She’s fine.”

“Did Marlowe lose her mind with happiness?”A quiet laugh escaped him.

“She cried outside the door three times.”

I wanted to laugh too, but tears rolled down my cheeks first.

The hospital room door opened.

My mother stood in the doorway with a bouquet in her hands. Her eyes were swollen, and her voice trembled when she spoke.

“Livia, may I come see you?”

I closed my eyes for a moment.

“You can’t take the baby away.”

Her tears fell immediately.

“I won’t.”

“You can’t send me overseas.”

“I won’t.”

“And you can never say you don’t want her again.”She nodded through her tears.

Lucian tightened his grip on my hand, then stepped around the bed and lowered himself onto one

knee.

He took a ring from his pocket, far more beautiful than the simple band he had bought before.

“Livia.”

“We’re already married, but everything happened too quickly.”

“There were no flowers, no wedding dress, and not even a proper proposal.”

He looked up at me, his eyes filled with an affection he could no longer hide.

“I still owe you a real wedding.”

“There will never be anyone else for me.””Will you let me make it all up to you?”My eyes stung as I looked at him.”Do I get your money?”

“Yes.”

“Can our daughter take my last name?”

Marlowe sucked in a sharp breath.

Lucian never looked away from me.

“She can take your name.”

“Will

you listen to me from now on?”

“Yes.”

I held out my hand.

“Fine. I’ll reluctantly allow you to make it up to me.”

He slid the ring onto my finger.

The comments immediately went wild.

[Lucian has completely lost it. The Orsini heir is actually going to carry the Serrano name!]

[Look on the bright side. Maybe the Orsinis and Serranos can merge into one family now.]

Afterward, Lucian moved our daughter and me into Riverside Manor.

The entire estate was surrounded by layers of security. Marlowe personally guarded the nursery, and anyone who tried to enter was checked three separate times.

As for the Serrano family, my mother visited every day with gifts and sat beside my bed crying when she thought I wasn’t looking.

I didn’t ask her to leave, but I didn’t forgive her immediately either.

She knitted a tiny hat for the baby.

It was hideous.

I complained about it for ages, then put it on my daughter anyway.

One day, Lucian walked in with the final wedding plans in hand. “The priest is here, and all the

guests have arrived.”

“Today, I’m giving you the wedding I owe you.”

I narrowed my eyes at him.

“For all Don Orsini’s power, apparently he still doesn’t know he’s supposed to warn the bride

before her own wedding. “He draped a coat around my shoulders.

“At your service.”I smiled.

Our daughter slept peacefully throughout the ceremony.

I wore a simple white dress and barely any makeup, while Lucian was dressed in a formal suit with his tie knotted perfectly.

When it was time for the photographs, his shoulders were stiff with nerves.I poked him in the side.

“Smile.”

He forced the corners of his mouth upward.

The photographer struggled not to laugh.

Eventually, after enough subtle hints from Marlowe, a paternity test was conducted on Lucian and our daughter. The result was exactly what everyone expected.

The report confirmed a 99 percent probability that Lucian Orsini was the father.Marlowe burst into

tears on the spot.

To her credit, she had at least waited until after Lucian and I were legally married before asking for

the test.

Ryan came to Riverside Manor once.

He stood outside the gates holding the scarf I had given him years ago.

“Livia, I want to see you.”

I stood by the second-floor window while Lucian stood behind me with our daughter in his arms.”Do you want to see him?” he asked.

I shook my head.

“There’s no reason to.”

Lucian lowered his head and kissed the top of my hair.

Ryan remained outside for a long time. Eventually, he placed the scarf beside the gate and walked

away.

On our daughter’s birthday, nearly every important figure in New York’s underworld attended the

celebration.

The same people who once called me foolish, mocked me for chasing Ryan, and claimed he would eventually abandon me now approached with wineglasses in their hands and addressed me as

Donna.

Marlowe carried the baby around all evening, smiling so widely that her cheeks must have hurt.

I sat in a private lounge eating a cupcake.Lucian walked over, wiped a smear of frosting from the

corner of my mouth, then bent down and kissed me.

The comments appeared once again.

[We finally reached the ending.]

[It may not be the fate they were supposed to have, but this ending is pretty good too. ][ Livia,

Lucian, we wish you both a lifetime of happiness.]

Lucian lowered himself onto one knee in front of me.

This time, there were flowers, a ring, and a room filled with guests.

He placed a stack of documents beside my hand-papers transferring his assets and controlling interests to me.”Livia, everything I control under the Orsini name is yours now. I’m giving you myself too. If I ever mistreat you, take our daughter, take the money, and leave.”

My eyes grew hot as I stared at him.

“What will you do?”

He took my hand and pressed a kiss to the ring on my finger.

“I’ll follow you until you forgive me.”

Smiling, I placed my hand in his.

“Then you’d better be prepared to follow me for the rest of your life, Lucian.”

Fireworks lit up the sky beyond the windows.

And for the first time, the future waiting for me was entirely my own.
