He Used His Secret Mistress for Revenge Chapter 06 The Corpse on the Shore

Vito sped toward the hospital.

Throughout the drive, he ordered his men to contact the coastal rescue teams and obtain every update on the recovery operation.

The moment his car stopped, he rushed into the hospital wing.

A bodyguard informed him that Mario had left early that morning with the rescue crew because he wanted to search for me personally.

Vito turned around immediately and drove toward the coast.

When he arrived, he saw Mario kneeling on the beach.

The older man’s back was bowed, and his shoulders shook violently.

His restrained sobs drifted over the sand with the sea wind.

Vito had known Mario for decades.

This was the first time he had ever seen the powerful godfather completely break down.

Several rescue workers came ashore from a small boat carrying a body beneath a white sheet.

The woman’s height and build matched mine exactly.

The wind lifted one corner of the sheet, exposing a wrist marked at the same place where I had always worn

a hair tie.

The instant Mario saw the body, his legs gave out.

He collapsed onto the sand and wailed.

“My daughter… My Laila…”

Vito stood frozen.

Cold spread through his body as he stared at the covered corpse and shook his head repeatedly.

“No. That isn’t her. Laila isn’t dead. Nothing can happen to her without my permission.”

He denied it again and again, but his feet felt weighted with lead.

He could not take a single step closer.

The rescue captain approached and reported the DNA results in a low voice.

“Godfather, the preliminary analysis is complete. The sample is a full match for Ms. Romano’s profile. The rescue team has confirmed that the recovered victim is Laila Romano.”

The announcement sliced through Vito’s last hope.

Dazed, he followed the others to the hospital morgue.

The room was cold and silent, its air thick with the sharp smell of disinfectant.

Mario sat on a bench, hollowed out by grief, and did not speak.

Vito’s frustration, regret, and refusal to accept the truth twisted together until he lost control.

He seized Mario by the collar and dragged him upright.

Fausted

“Stop acting. You and Laila planned this together, didn’t you? You stole the port concession from me and drove Lucia away. You couldn’t stand to see me happy, so you staged a plane crash to punish me. Tell me the truth!”

Mario struggled to breathe.

It took him several seconds to understand what Vito was accusing him of.

Then shock filled his eyes.

“What did you just say? You and Laila… You were secretly together for three years?”

Vito showed no guilt.

Instead, rage sharpened his voice.

“That’s right. I was the man sleeping with your daughter. You should have seen how desperately she clung to my and how many ways she found to please me. She was fucking pathetic.”

Mario’s fury erupted.

He drove his fist into Vito’s face.

The blow split Vito’s lip and snapped his head aside.

“Don’t you dare speak about my daughter that way!”

Mario’s eyes were red, and his entire body trembled.

“Laila was barely more than a girl. You were my sworn brother, a man I trusted with my life, and you were far older than she was. You deliberately manipulated her. How could you do this to her dead mother? How could you do it after decades of friendship with me?”

‘His voice broke.

“No wonder Laila cried when she told me she was leaving. She must have already known about your

marriage to Lucia. She was trying to escape because she couldn’t bear the pain, and I failed to notice any of

it.”

Overcome with guilt, Mario struck his own chest again and again.

Vito wiped the blood from his mouth and refused to yield.

“Her first mistake was being born your daughter. If you hadn’t driven Lucia away, none of us would have started hurting each other. You created this debt. Your daughter was always the one who had to pay it.”

Mario released a bleak, bitter laugh.

His eyes remained red as he finally revealed the truth buried for years.

“Lucia deceived you from the beginning. She was the one who betrayed you. She had already started an affair with another family’s heir.”
