He Used His Secret Mistress for Revenge Chapter 02

He Used His Secret Mistress for Revenge Chapter 02 The Life I Was Preparing to Abandon
Three years ago, one of my father’s enemy families abducted me and tied me up inside an abandoned underground warehouse.
I had already fallen into despair when Vito broke in to rescue me.
More than a dozen armed men surrounded him.
Vito fought them alone.
Even after several bullets struck him, he killed every member of the enemy family’s crew.
That was when I fell in love with him.
Soon afterward, I confessed my feelings, and our three-year secret affair began.
Vito promised that as long as he was beside me, no one would ever hurt me again.
I believed him.
I gave him everything and tried to satisfy every request he made.
Vito was always searching for something new in bed, so I learned different ways to please him.
Whenever I became better at it, a complicated expression appeared in his eyes.
At the time, I had not understood what it meant.
Now I did.
He had been looking down on me.
I turned and watched Vito sleeping beside me.
Then I quietly left, my waist sore and my entire body aching.
When I returned home, Father was preparing to go out.
The moment I saw him, guilt overwhelmed me.
After my mother died, Father raised me by himself.
He constantly moved between family affairs and our home, often working until exhaustion left him unable to sleep.
I had never helped him carry that burden.
Instead, I had secretly become a source of shame.
The hurt inside me surged up without warning.
I threw myself into Father’s arms and began crying.
He immediately became anxious.
“What happened, Laila?”
I shook my head.
It took a long while before I could calm myself.
My plan to fake my death would fail if anyone suspected the truth, so I had to keep it from Father as well.
“The family wants me to go abroad and discuss some business. I’ve never left home alone before. I don’t want to be away from you.”
Father’s eyes reddened.
He gently stroked my hair.
“I don’t want you to leave either. But if you miss me, you can come home whenever you want.”
“Okay.”
After Father left, I went straight to handle the necessary travel paperwork.
I never expected to see Vito and Lucia Bellini inside the VIP lounge at the visa center.
Vito stood beside Lucia, looking at her with unmistakable affection.
The people around them whispered excitedly.
“Isn’t that the godfather from the news? The one entering a family alliance? He and that woman look perfect together.
“I heard they were a couple years ago. Then she was forced overseas, and no other woman appeared publicly beside him. Apparently, he waited for her all this time.
“Powerful, handsome, and loyal? Where can anyone find a man like that?”
So that was how the public viewed Vito.
Then what had I been during those three years?
Bitterness pulled at my mouth, but I could not smile.
The staff member called me several times before I reacted.
Only then did I realize my tears had soaked the paperwork in my hands.
“Ms. Romano, your documents have been processed. You may leave.”
Her voice drew Vito’s attention.
I lowered my head, wiped my face, and quickly placed the documents into my bag.
When I looked up, Vito was already in front of me.
“Laila, why are you here?”
His brows tightened slightly.
He seemed more worried that I might cause trouble than concerned about why I had been crying.
Before I answered, Lucia linked her arm through his.
“So you’re Laila. Vito was right. You really do look sweet and innocent. He told me he has always treated you like a niece. Once we’re married, I suppose I’ll become your aunt. We should get acquainted now.”
I glanced at the way she clung to Vito’s arm and smiled politely.
“Nice to meet you, Aunt Lucia. My father has some overseas family business to handle, so I came to help with the visas. Since there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now.”
I walked away before either of them could stop me.
That evening, Vito asked me to come to his home.
He claimed he wanted to explain.
“Laila, you understand how important alliances between families are. Lucia and I are only marrying for appearances. It is nothing more than a public arrangement. You’re the only woman I love.”
The marriage was supposedly the performance.
But I was the person he had been acting for all along.
Even after I had seen the truth with my own eyes, he still believed a few lies would be enough to calm me.
How certain was he that I could never leave?
While I stood there distracted, Vito leaned down and kissed me.
His hands moved over my waist.
I struggled, but he pressed down on my legs and trapped me beneath him.
“Be good. Stop being upset.”
I bit his lip until blood appeared.
Only then did he realize I was not pretending to resist.
Vito frowned and stared at me with blame in his eyes.
During our entire three-year relationship, I had obeyed him and never refused his demands.
He probably believed I was acting completely unreasonable.
His expression cooled.
He turned away, slammed the bathroom door, and went inside.
The room became silent.
At that moment, my encrypted phone vibrated inside my bag.
I opened the screen.
The broker had sent two messages.
“Ms. Romano, the charter plane is ready. The substitute body has already been placed inside the cabin.
“Once the plane crashes into the ocean, there will be no Laila Romano left in this world.”
