He Signed Me As Nanny Not Wife For Ten Years Chapter 09

He Signed Me As Nanny Not Wife For Ten Years Chapter 09

Adrian rushed toward her recklessly.

His voice trembled badly.

“I’m Daddy! Nellie, don’t you miss Daddy?”

Disgust flashed through my heart.

I stepped in front of Nellie and shielded her behind me.

My expression went cold.

Over the past six months, I had worked so hard to bring back my daughter’s innocence and brightness.

What right did Adrian have to show up and destroy everything I had rebuilt?

I took half a step back, avoiding his movement.

My voice was cold. “What are you doing here?”

The grievance and dissatisfaction on Adrian’s face froze.

His throat moved, and his voice sounded dry. “I came to take you and Nellie home.”

“Evelyn, from now on, we’ll be together as a family and live a good life.”

Nellie tugged at my sleeve and peeked out from behind me.

“Oh, I remember now. You’re Noah’s daddy.”

Adrian’s expression twisted with humiliation and disbelief.

After a long silence, he said hoarsely, “Nellie, I’m not Noah’s daddy. We’re the real family.”

Nellie shook her head seriously.

“No. How could family leave each other behind? Look at me. I wouldn’t leave Shadow behind, and Mommy wouldn’t leave me behind.”

After a pause, she looked at Ethan. “Daddy Ethan wouldn’t leave me or Mommy either. That’s what family is.”

Adrian’s face turned ugly.

He looked at me.

Then his gaze shifted toward Ethan, who was standing protectively in front of Nellie and me.

Anger rose in Adrian’s eyes. “Evelyn Hart, who is he?”

Ethan was sharp enough to notice my hatred and disgust toward Adrian right away.

Before I could speak, he naturally took my hand.

His voice was cold. “I’m Evelyn’s partner. And I’m Nellie’s father.”

Adrian’s breathing turned rapid.

He stared at me in disbelief, his eyes full of refusal.

“Evelyn, you’re still angry with me, aren’t you? Hiding from me for this long wasn’t enough, so now you found some stranger to provoke me?”

“Back then, your visa wouldn’t go through. I had no choice but to take Sienna and Noah to New York first and get them settled.”

“Now I’ve come to get you. How long are you going to keep this up?”

I tightened my grip around Ethan’s cool fingers.

I looked at Adrian calmly.

There was no trace of the affection I had once felt.

“Keep this up? Adrian, strictly speaking, there is nothing between you and me to keep up.”

I gave a faint laugh. “Or did you come here planning to trick me into going to New York again?”

Adrian’s jaw tightened instantly.

His expression hardened. “What do you mean, trick you?”

“Evelyn, the domestic worker visa was only temporary. Once the policies stabilized, of course I was going to apply for permanent residency for you. Don’t you want—”

I cut him off directly, “Permanent residency? How? With that fake marriage certificate?”

“Didn’t you already marry Sienna and use the dependent sponsorship for her?”

Every word I spoke made Adrian’s face turn paler.

His lips trembled.

When he heard me mention Sienna, a faint trace of hope lit in his eyes.

“No!”

“Evelyn, I never meant to deceive you. The marriage was only a way to let Sienna stay in New York. I promised my brother I would take care of her.”

“Now everything has been arranged. Once we go back, I’ll divorce her. Evelyn, you understand, don’t you?”

How ridiculous.

I slowly shook my head. “No, I don’t.”

“Adrian, every time you protected Sienna, every time you hurt Nellie for Noah’s sake, you destroyed what was left of us.”

“Leave. Don’t disturb the peaceful life Nellie and I finally have.”

The words peaceful life seemed to drive Adrian insane.

His eyes turned red as he shouted, “I won’t accept this!”

“Evelyn Hart, do you know my mother is dead? I don’t have a mother anymore. Do you understand that?”

“I’ve already lost my mother. I can’t lose you and Nellie too.”

Hearing Adrian’s hysterical words, I froze for a moment.

In my previous life, she had been cared for around the clock by me.

She spent her final years in comfort and died peacefully in her sleep.

But now, only half a year had passed.

How had it happened so suddenly?

Then again, after thinking about it, it was not surprising.

Adrian was a dutiful son in words only.

What he was best at was outsourcing his filial duty.

After arriving in New York, he was busy with work and building his reputation.

Naturally, he shoved the responsibility of caring for his mother onto Sienna.

As for Sienna, she was the kind of woman who would scrub her hands with soap countless times after accidentally touching the old woman’s wet pants.

How could she possibly take good care of her?

Cause and effect always found their way back.
