He Signed Me As Nanny Not Wife For Ten Years Chapter 06

The next day, when Adrian returned and saw his mother lying in a filthy bed, covered in waste and clearly not cleaned, he was both heartbroken and furious.

He kicked open the door to the small room, his brows drawn tight.

“Evelyn Hart, this is how you take care of my mother?”

His mother began crying and wailing.

“I don’t want her taking care of me. I might as well die now so I won’t drag you and Sienna down.”

A woman who had been paralyzed for most of her life somehow found the strength to roll herself off the bed.

Adrian had no time to scold me.

He rushed into the room, his voice choked.

“Mom!”

His mother clutched his arm and begged through tears.

“Adrian, don’t leave me behind. I don’t have many years left. Please don’t leave me.”

Adrian’s eyes reddened. “I won’t leave you, Mom. I’ll take you with me.”

His mother lifted her head and shot me a smug look.

That night, Adrian sat in the living room and smoked until dawn.

When the sky was almost bright, Sienna quietly finished packing their luggage, afraid that the slightest sound might wake the old woman.

But Adrian sat stiffly on the couch, unmoving.

After a long time, he turned to me.

His voice was hoarse. “Evelyn, come with us.”

Something in Sienna’s hands dropped to the floor with a loud clatter.

She stared at me, her eyes full of venom.

I asked calmly, “Why?”

Adrian answered as if it were only natural.

“Mom is used to you taking care of her. Besides, we’re family. Shouldn’t we be together?”

“As for the visa, don’t worry. We can just arrange some kind of domestic worker visa to get you through.”

I couldn’t help laughing until tears blurred my eyes.

The same domestic worker visa.

In this life, it had come six months early.

It had come on the very day he was leaving for New York.

When I had laughed enough, I looked at him with regret in my eyes.

“But Sienna burned all my documents. What should we do?”

Adrian froze.

Sienna bit her lip and said hoarsely, “Adrian, let’s take Mom first. Once Evelyn’s visa is approved again, we can have her come over.”

“If we delay any longer, we’ll miss the boat.”

At this point, that was the only option.

When Adrian pushed his mother’s wheelchair out, he looked back at me.

For once, there was a trace of guilt in his eyes. “Evelyn, once I get settled, I’ll come back for you. Wait for me.”

After saying that, he left without looking back with Sienna rushing him along.

I wiped the tears from my face, picked up the luggage I had already prepared, and left with Nellie in my arms.

At the harbor, Adrian stepped out onto the ship for some air.

That was when he saw a convoy slowly passing along the shore.

He stood at the front of the crowd.

With one glance, he saw me sitting by the window.

The bold red banner that read Rural Medical Outreach to the Southwest stung his eyes.

Adrian went rigid.

Then he lunged forward, his voice cracking as he shouted, “Stop!”

“Evelyn, where are you going? Why didn’t you tell me? You are not allowed to leave! Evelyn Hart!”
